Actress Toyosi Adesanya has shared an update on the medical condition of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, revealing that he has now been taken in for surgery following intervention from a prominent political figure.
According to Adesanya, Senator Solomon Adeola popularly referred to as Yayi played a key role in securing urgent medical attention for the ailing actor.
The Ogun West senator, who is also contesting for the governorship of Ogun State under the APC, reportedly reached out directly to leading cancer specialists to fast-track Ogogo's care.
Sharing the development via Instagram on Wednesday, Adesanya confirmed that Ogogo had been moved into the operating theatre for treatment, describing the news as an answer to the prayers of fans and colleagues who had been closely following his health struggles.
In her post, she expressed gratitude toward Senator Adeola for stepping in to facilitate access to specialized care, while also thanking everyone who had contributed prayers, suggestions, and support since the actor's condition became public knowledge.
She expressed hope for a successful procedure and a full recovery, describing Ogogo as a legendary figure within the Nigerian film industry deserving of continued strength and many more years ahead.
This latest development follows an emotional appeal made just days earlier by Ogogo's daughters, Lima and Kira, who publicly disclosed that their father had been diagnosed with stage four cancer roughly three weeks prior.
Kira explained that the illness had progressed to affect his abdominal region, and the family had begun exploring alternative treatment routes after being informed that certain medical facilities were no longer able to continue chemotherapy sessions.
Lima also addressed public suggestions that Ogogo be flown overseas for treatment, clarifying that his current health status made him unfit for international travel at this stage of his illness.
The family's plea for help resonated widely across the Nigerian entertainment industry, drawing support and involvement from numerous high-profile colleagues.
Actors including Femi Adebayo, Muyiwa Ademola, Bimbo Oshin, Toyin Abraham, Odunlade Adekola, and Mide Martins were among those who publicly called on their networks to recommend qualified oncologists and treatment centers capable of assisting with his care.
Notably, Bimbo Oshin clarified earlier in the week that the family's appeal was centered on securing appropriate medical expertise rather than financial contributions, while Femi Adebayo specifically requested referrals to credible hospitals and specialists who could assess Ogogo's existing medical records and advise on next steps.
Amid the growing wave of concern, misinformation also began circulating online, with a false report claiming the actor had died making the rounds on social media earlier in the week.
Lima moved quickly to shut down the rumor, confirming that her father remained alive and urging members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims about his health.
With Ogogo now reportedly undergoing surgery, attention remains focused on the outcome of the procedure as fans, colleagues, and family continue to hold out hope for his recovery.
