Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has provided an update on the outpouring of support his colleague, Taiwo Hassan better known by his screen name Ogogo has received as he continues to battle a serious health condition.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Kosoko shared a photograph of Ogogo alongside a heartfelt message thanking the countless fans, industry colleagues, and members of the public who have reached out with concern and offers of help.
According to Kosoko, the family has been overwhelmed by the volume of goodwill messages, with many people offering to assist in different capacities whether through spiritual intervention, medical expertise, or other forms of support they believed could aid Ogogo's recovery.
In his post, Kosoko extended gratitude on behalf of the family to fans, friends, and well-wishers across the globe, acknowledging the flood of prayers, encouraging words, and offers of assistance that had come in since news of the actor's condition became public.
He emphasized how touched the family has been by the willingness of so many strangers and colleagues alike to step in and help however they could.
He specifically thanked those who reached out claiming to have spiritual guidance, treatment options, or other resources they felt could benefit Ogogo, noting that the family had received several hundred such offers and remained grateful for every single one.
Beyond expressing thanks, Kosoko used the post to renew calls for continued prayer, expressing the family's belief that Ogogo would ultimately pull through with the combined support of prayers, medical care, and divine mercy.
He framed the situation as one where nothing was beyond the possibility of God's intervention, urging supporters not to lose hope or stop praying for the actor's recovery.
Addressing a point of potential confusion, Kosoko also used the opportunity to explain why the family has been unable to take Ogogo to the numerous individuals who have offered spiritual or medical assistance outside the hospital setting.
He described the logistical difficulty of relocating him given his current stage of treatment, particularly with such a large number of people reportedly between 300 and 500—each offering different forms of help.
He posed the practical dilemma the family faces: with so many well-meaning offers pouring in, there simply isn't a feasible way to determine where he could be taken, nor is it medically advisable to move him from the hospital while he remains under active care.
Kosoko was careful to clarify that the family's inability to accept every offer of external help should not be misread as ingratitude or doubt about anyone's sincerity.
Rather, he stressed that the family remains deeply moved by the scale of compassion shown by people both locally and internationally.
This update follows earlier reports indicating that Ogogo is currently facing a stage four cancer diagnosis, a development that has prompted an outpouring of support from across the Nigerian entertainment industry and beyond.
Ogogo, aged 66, is a longstanding figure in Nigerian cinema and television, having built a career spanning several decades as both an actor and filmmaker.
