Nollywood actors Femi Branch and Zubby Michael are set to headline a new historical epic, Nne Mgbafor, which will arrive in Nigerian cinemas on September 4, 2026.
Branch made the announcement on Wednesday through his Instagram page, where he shared the official poster for the upcoming production and revealed its release date.
The film draws inspiration from the rich warrior traditions of Ohafia in Abia State, bringing to the screen a story centred on bravery, sacrifice, resistance and the struggle against long-standing traditions.
At the heart of Nne Mgbafor is a woman who refuses to accept the limitations imposed by the customs of her society.
Her determination to challenge established traditions places her on a difficult path as she attempts to influence the future of her people.
Femi Branch, who has featured in several Nigerian film and television productions, is expected to play one of the major roles in the historical drama, alongside popular actor Zubby Michael.
Their involvement is expected to add considerable star power to a production that seeks to combine cultural heritage with an engaging dramatic storyline.
Veteran actor Sam Dede is also part of the cast. Known for his work in Nigerian cinema, Dede brings further experience to the project as the filmmakers seek to create a production that captures the spirit and history associated with the Ohafia warrior tradition.
The movie is produced by Kingsley Uma Kalu Mmecha and directed by Edward Emeka Uka. Blue Pictures Distribution is responsible for taking the project to cinemas across Nigeria.
