Nigerian dancer, singer and social media personality Korra Obidi became emotional during a recent YouTube livestream as she spoke about what she described as years of harassment, online attacks and alleged attempts to frustrate her career.
The entertainer, who has been divorced from her former husband for about five years, questioned why she continues to face what she described as persistent attacks despite the passage of time.
Speaking during the livestream, Korra broke down in tears and appealed to those she accused of targeting her to leave her alone.
She said:
“These people they're messing with me all the time, it's been 5 years. Just leave me alone. . I'm not the first person to get divorced. I'm not gonna be the last person. Why are you guys still reporting my page and just sabotaging all my opportunities? What did I do? Look at them laughing at me as I cry on YouTube. And the sad thing is I can't even find them to block them. Guys, do you know that the hotel that I stayed in Antigua, these people sent emails, they sabotaged that hotel opportunity. Do you know that? They destroyed that hotel opportunity. Anybody that I tag, they destroyed the opportunity. It's been three, it has been five years, guys. And they're over there laughing at me on YouTube. I don't even know how to find them to block them.”
Korra alleged that the situation has gone beyond social media disagreements, claiming that people have allegedly contacted businesses and organisations connected to her in an effort to damage potential professional relationships.
According to her, one of the alleged incidents occurred in Antigua, where she claimed that people contacted the hotel she was staying at after she tagged the establishment online.
She said the hotel eventually asked her to remove its tag, which she interpreted as a sign that the establishment had become uncomfortable with the attention surrounding her.
The entertainer also claimed that similar incidents had occurred in other countries, including Japan, as well as during a television opportunity.
“Leave me alone, I'm not the first woman to get divorced, it's been five years. This is worse than obsession. This is worse than obsession. I've never seen this in my life. Woke up randomly, started going live on Facebook. I noticed that I would see three people watching. I'm like, what's going on? I have 14 million followers. Why am I seeing three people watching? I turn off the live, I open it again, the same thing. I noticed they've been reporting my page. Do you know that anytime I post on Instagram, I have to post four to five times so that it can cross-post? Because they're also reporting my IG too", she stated.
Korra further alleged that her social media accounts have repeatedly been targeted, making it difficult for her posts and livestreams to reach the audience she has built over the years.
She claimed that her professional opportunities have also suffered as a result of the alleged campaign.
“In Antigua, they sabotaged the hotel. They've emailed the hotel, they started saying all sorts of crazy things about me. The hotel had to tell me I should please remove the tag that I put of them. They're so scared. They don't want to be associated with me. 14 million followers.😳🙆♀️ ", she said
Beyond business relationships, Korra alleged that people have attempted to interfere with some of her personal relationships as well.
“They tried to sabotage my relationship with Aunty Pat. They tried to sabotage my relationship with anybody that I'm with.”
She went on to claim that Antigua was not an isolated incident, alleging that she had experienced similar situations in other locations where she believed new opportunities were developing.
“Yeah, I was telling you guys what happened in Antigua. The same thing happened in Japan. The same thing happened..... Anywhere they see I have an opportunity. The same thing happened when I was on TV. They were sending emails asking them, why would you pick korra? She is wanted in the state of California for abusing her children. And all sorts of lies that they give. Just to sabotage my opportunities. And the crazy thing is, without proper verification, some people might believe the crazy lies.
Some people might go ahead and say, okay, we don't want no smoke. This girl looks like she's hot right now. We don't want any issues. We're a young company. We don't want any, you know”, she stated.
Her emotional appearance has generated reactions among viewers, particularly because she described the alleged attacks as something that has continued years after the end of her marriage.
Korra's claims during the livestream have not been independently verified, and she did not identify the individuals she believes are behind the alleged campaign.
However, her remarks highlight the pressure public figures can face when personal disputes spill over into social media and professional spaces.
For Korra, the issue appears to be about more than criticism online. She alleged that the continued reporting of her social media pages, complaints to businesses and attempts to influence potential professional partners have made it increasingly difficult for her to pursue opportunities without fear of interference.
Her repeated appeal during the livestream was simple: she wants those she believes are responsible to stop targeting her and allow her to move forward with her life and career.
