Nigerian music star Wizkid is set to reunite with British R&B singer Jorja Smith on a brand-new collaboration, sparking excitement among fans following a teaser shared on social media.

The announcement came after Smith posted a short video on her official Instagram page, giving followers a glimpse of what appears to be the visual campaign for the forthcoming release.

In the clip, Wizkid is seen opening a gate before walking into a room. Moments later, Smith enters from behind, walks past him, and the Nigerian superstar follows shortly afterwards. Although neither artiste disclosed the title of the song, Smith confirmed that the collaboration will officially be released on Thursday.

Captioning the teaser, she simply wrote, “See you tomorrow,” leaving fans eager to hear what the pair have been working on.

The announcement has generated widespread anticipation online, particularly because the two singers have built a strong musical chemistry over the years. Their previous collaborations received positive reviews from fans who praised the blend of Wizkid’s Afrobeats style with Smith’s soulful R&B vocals.

Jorja Smith has established herself as one of Britain’s leading contemporary R&B voices. She began writing songs at the age of 11 before eventually breaking into the mainstream with tracks such as Blue Lights, which showcased her distinctive vocal ability and thoughtful songwriting.

Her debut album, Lost & Found, released in 2018, earned widespread critical acclaim and introduced her to a global audience. The project explored themes including love, identity, youth and personal growth while cementing her reputation as one of the most gifted singer-songwriters of her generation.

Over the years, Smith has continued to receive international recognition for her music, including the prestigious Brit Critics’ Choice Award, while collaborating with several notable artistes across different genres.

Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, remains one of Africa’s biggest music exports and has consistently expanded his international profile through collaborations with global stars.

He first gained nationwide recognition with his debut album Superstar in 2011 before following it with a string of commercially successful projects, including Ayo, Sound From The Other Side, Made In Lagos, More Love, Less Ego, and Morayo, which was released in November 2024.

Among these albums, Made In Lagos became one of his most successful international projects, introducing Afrobeats to even wider audiences around the world. The album featured collaborations with celebrated musicians including Damian Marley, Skepta, H.E.R., Ella Mai, Burna Boy, Tems, and Terri, while its global success further strengthened Wizkid’s reputation as one of the continent’s most influential artistes.

His achievements also include winning a Grammy Award in 2021 for his contribution to Brown Skin Girl, the Beyoncé-led collaboration that celebrated Black beauty and culture.

The announcement of the new collaboration with Smith comes barely a week after Wizkid revealed another major development in his career.

During an exclusive listening event held at Cova Club in Paris, the singer disclosed that his forthcoming seventh studio album will be titled Sexy.

Although he has yet to announce the album’s release date, the revelation has fuelled anticipation among fans who have been waiting for his next full-length project since the release of Morayo.

The upcoming song with Jorja Smith is expected to provide listeners with another glimpse into Wizkid’s evolving musical direction as he prepares for his next album era.

With both artistes known for effortlessly blending Afrobeats, soul and contemporary R&B influences, expectations remain high that the collaboration will resonate with audiences across Africa, Europe and beyond when it officially arrives.
