Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has revealed why she chose to keep her return to the Nigerian movie industry a secret until her latest project was ready for release.

The celebrated actress explained that she deliberately stayed away from making public announcements, believing that some plans are best kept private until they are successfully accomplished.

Speaking in a recent television interview, Wright said she has adopted a more reserved approach to major life decisions, preferring to work quietly behind the scenes rather than draw attention to projects before they are completed.

According to her, this mindset helped her focus on delivering a quality production without unnecessary distractions.

The actress noted that many fans were unaware she had resumed filming because only a small circle of trusted family members and members of her team knew about her plans.

She praised her son and management team for developing an effective promotional strategy that eventually introduced the project to the public at the right time.

Wright also reflected on the decision that took her away from Nigeria several years ago. She explained that her priority at the time was raising her children, stressing that motherhood came before her acting career.

Looking back, she said she has no regrets about making that sacrifice, adding that she would make the same decision again if faced with similar circumstances.

While acknowledging that many fans missed seeing her on screen, the actress expressed appreciation for their continued support throughout her absence.

She admitted she never formally announced her departure from Nollywood and apologised to those who wondered why she had disappeared from the spotlight.

Her latest cinema project, "The Return of Omotara Johnson," marks a major milestone in her comeback. The film serves as a sequel to the popular Yoruba classic "Omotara Johnson," which first captivated audiences in 2008.

According to Wright, the decision to revisit the story was inspired by persistent requests from fans who had long hoped to see the character return.

The new production features an impressive lineup of Nollywood stars, including Richard Mofe-Damijo, Shaffy Bello, Toyin Abraham, Ali Nuhu and Chidi Mokeme.

Since its release, the film has generated excitement among movie lovers eager to see the veteran actress back in a leading role.

In addition to the sequel, Wright has gradually re-established herself in mainstream Nollywood with appearances in recent productions, signalling a renewed commitment to the industry.

Her return has been welcomed by fans and colleagues alike, many of whom consider her one of the actresses who helped shape the growth of Nigerian cinema.

With new projects already attracting attention, Bukky Wright's comeback appears set to usher in another successful chapter in her distinguished acting career.
