Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has responded after becoming the target of a harsh online remark from a social media user who mocked her appearance and made comments about her alleged relationship with older men.
The actress found herself at the center of the exchange after the troll claimed to be a decade older than her while insisting that Sarah looked much older. The critic went further by referencing the actress's alleged preference for dating older men, claiming she had been warned against it but refused to listen.
The troll wrote:
“So I am 10 years older than you are. Leave condemned amu, Yiu refused. See as you are looking like my aunty”.
Rather than engage in a heated exchange, Sarah chose to address the criticism with a calm but firm response. The actress questioned why anyone would continue following someone they claim not to like, saying she has remained focused on her own life despite repeated attempts by critics to provoke her.
Expressing her frustration, Sarah advised those who dislike her to simply remove themselves from her page instead of constantly looking for opportunities to attack her.
She wrote:
“Shebi I dey my lane, una don dey find my mouth.... If you don’t like me, kindly unfollow me
I don’t see a reason u should be following who you dislike so much only to be attacking them with every opportunity”.
Her response quickly drew attention as she made it clear that she has no interest in unnecessary online confrontations. Instead, she maintained that people who genuinely dislike her should stop keeping tabs on her activities rather than repeatedly leaving negative comments.
Online criticism directed at celebrities has become increasingly common, with many public figures frequently facing remarks about their appearance, lifestyle and personal choices. While some celebrities choose to ignore such comments, others occasionally respond when they feel the criticism has crossed the line.
For Sarah Martins, this was one of those moments. Rather than trading insults with the troll, she used the opportunity to remind critics that they have the option of unfollowing anyone whose content they do not enjoy instead of remaining on their pages simply to leave hurtful remarks.
Although the exchange has sparked conversations among fans, Sarah's position remains clear: she believes no one should keep following a person they dislike only to criticize them at every opportunity.
