Not Every Friend's Battle Is Yours - Bisola Aiyeola

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and Nollywood actress Bisola Aiyeola has shared a personal lesson she learned about loyalty, revealing how getting involved in other people's disagreements often left her in uncomfortable situations.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, the actress reflected on a period in her life when she felt obligated to take sides whenever friends, colleagues or people close to her had conflicts. 

According to Bisola, she believed supporting those around her meant adopting their disagreements as her own, even when she had little or no knowledge of the full story.

She admitted that her actions were driven by loyalty rather than careful judgment. Looking back, however, she now believes that approach was misguided because she sometimes formed opinions without hearing every side of the issue.

The actress explained that one particular experience changed her perspective completely. She recalled standing firmly by someone during a dispute, only for the two parties to later settle their differences while she remained the one carrying the resentment. That experience, she said, taught her that not every disagreement requires outside participation.

Since then, Bisola has become more cautious about involving herself in personal conflicts that do not directly concern her. 

She now prefers to allow those involved to resolve their issues without automatically choosing a side.

Although she no longer expects her friends to fight her battles, the actress admitted there are certain boundaries she considers important in close relationships. 

She said she would find it difficult to maintain a friendship with someone who becomes close to or starts a romantic relationship with one of her former partners.

For Bisola, friendship comes with a level of loyalty and sensitivity that should be respected, particularly when it involves past relationships.

 While she does not demand that friends cut ties with everyone she disagrees with, she believes some situations naturally require consideration for each other's feelings.

The actress also revealed that she has applied the same principle in her own life. She explained that she has intentionally distanced herself from men who were involved in disputes with her close friends, believing that genuine friendship sometimes requires setting personal boundaries.

Her candid remarks have sparked conversations online, with many social media users sharing their own experiences of becoming caught up in conflicts that were never theirs.

 Others praised her honesty, saying her story serves as a reminder that loyalty should be balanced with wisdom and independent judgment.

Bisola's reflections highlight the importance of maintaining healthy boundaries, avoiding unnecessary conflicts and recognising that true friendship does not always mean taking ownership of another person's disagreements.
