Korra Obidi's journey took an unexpected turn after she missed her scheduled flight while waiting at the airport, leaving her with an extra travel bill and plenty of frustration.
The Nigerian singer and dancer explained that she had arrived at the airport well ahead of time and spent several hours waiting for her departure. With the long wait taking its toll, she eventually fell asleep while seated close to the boarding gate. Unfortunately, by the time she woke up, the aircraft had already departed.
Still trying to process what had happened, Korra questioned why she was never alerted before the flight left, especially since she said she had been sitting directly in front of the departure gate.
Describing the experience, she said:
"This has to be the w0rst flight experience I have ever had in my life.
Everything was going great until I was sitting at the boarding gate and I didn't even know they were boarding Lagos. I was just sleeping.
I opened my eyes and my flight had left. They didn't even announce anything. They didn't say anything. Now I have to pay $500 to buy another transit flight to Lagos."
Faced with no other option, Korra purchased another ticket so she could continue her journey. However, the challenges did not end there.
According to her, after paying an additional $500 for a replacement transit flight, she attempted to return inside the airport to wait for her next departure. She said she was informed that she could not go in because her new flight, scheduled for midnight, was still several hours away.
Korra expressed disbelief at the situation, pointing out that she had already spent eight hours waiting for the original flight before she accidentally slept off.
She continued:
"I have bought the flight now and want to go inside and wait for my flight. They're telling me I cannot go inside because it's too early to board since my flight is at midnight.
Take note, I had already been waiting for eight hours. The flight I missed, I waited eight hours for it, and then I slept off and missed it.
I was sitting right in front of the gate. They didn't even call, 'Passenger this...' or, 'We're calling passenger this...' Nothing like that. They just left me there..."
The experience left Korra disappointed as what began as a routine trip quickly turned into an expensive setback. After hours of patiently waiting at the airport, she not only missed her flight but also had to spend hundreds of dollars on another ticket before continuing her journey. She maintained that she never heard any boarding announcement or any call directed at her before the plane departed, saying that was the most frustrating part of the entire experience.
