Is it really a movie, or could the movie narrative be coming afterward to convince followers who felt disappointed that Geh Geh, despite his long-held views on relationships and marriage, actually tied the knot?
Since self-acclaimed financial and relationship coach Geh Geh got married, one explanation has continued to circulate that the wedding was merely a movie production titled "Our Inlaw".
But when the available details are carefully examined, that explanation appears to raise more questions than it answers.
The first question is a simple one: If this was truly a Nollywood movie, why were the bride and groom identified with their real names?
In Nollywood productions, actors almost never use their real names during a movie. They are introduced by the names of the characters they are portraying. Yet throughout the wedding, the bride was identified as Mary Josiah, which is also her real name.
The groom is popularly known as Geh Geh, but his full name is Ojaiho Oghene GehGeh Prosper, also known as Emmanuel Obruste. There was no indication that either of them was acting under fictional identities.
That alone raises questions.
Another point worth considering is the amount of personal branding that went into the ceremony.
Photos from the event showed customised wedding souvenirs, including branded jotters, decorative plates and discs bearing the couple's names.
While movies certainly use props, producing personalised souvenirs for guests outside a film set would be an unusually expensive detail simply to convince people that a wedding was real. It begs the question: Would a production company go to such lengths for what was supposedly just another movie scene?
Then there is the bride herself.
Mary Josiah has been identified as a banker with Taj Bank in Minna, Niger State, and is originally from Edo State. More importantly, members of her family openly celebrated the wedding.
Her younger sister, Janet Josiah, who served as one of the bridesmaids, publicly acknowledged the ceremony. Her other siblings, Hellen Josiah and Hannah Josiah, also shared posts celebrating what appeared to be a genuine family occasion.
If the wedding was only a film production, it raises another question: Were the bride's entire family acting too?
The location of the event also deserves attention.
The wedding took place in Niger State. Some have argued that the choice of location supports the movie narrative, but does it really?
Film producers usually travel to distant locations because they offer something unique historic sites, distinctive landscapes or cultural settings that cannot easily be recreated elsewhere. However, if the scenes were simply shot inside a hotel, why travel all the way to Niger State when similar venues exist much closer to Nollywood's major production hubs?.
Again, another question without a clear answer.
None of these observations prove that Our Inlaw does not exist as a movie. It is entirely possible that a film is in production. However, they also make it difficult to dismiss the wedding itself as nothing more than a scripted event.
The use of real identities, the presence of close family members, the customised wedding souvenirs, and the location all point to a ceremony that appears far more personal than a typical movie production.
So, the question remains: Was this truly a movie set, or was the movie narrative introduced after the wedding to convince disappointed followers that the marriage wasn't real?
Until Geh Geh or the producers of Our Inlaw provide a detailed explanation, that question is likely to remain unanswered.
