Comedian Bovi has stirred laughter with a light-hearted take on one of football's biggest debates, using the long-running rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to explain how he sizes people up before considering a business partnership.

Speaking in his usual humorous style, Bovi said one question can tell him a lot about how a person thinks.

"If you’re going into business with someone you don’t know very well, ask them who the better footballer is between Ronaldo and Messi. If they tell you Ronaldo is the better footballer, pick up your shoes and run. It means they can take what is true and twist it to fit their own reality. When someone can genuinely believe that, you have to be careful because they can do the same thing in business."

The remark quickly drew attention because it touched on one of football's most passionate arguments. For years, supporters of Messi and Ronaldo have defended their favourites with unwavering loyalty, often insisting their choice is the greatest player to ever play the game.

For Bovi, however, the comparison goes beyond football. While he clearly believes Messi is the superior player, he used the rivalry to make a humorous point about judgment, perception and the kind of thinking he believes matters when choosing the people he wants to work with.

Rather than focusing on goals, trophies or statistics, the comedian suggested that the answer to such a simple question can offer a glimpse into how someone processes information and forms opinions. In his view, if a person can confidently reject what he considers an obvious truth, they could approach important business decisions in a similar way.

Although the comment was delivered with plenty of humour, Bovi made it clear that his belief about the Messi-Ronaldo debate is genuine. He sees Messi as the better footballer and jokingly said he would be reluctant to partner with anyone who strongly argues otherwise.

Bovi made it clear that he wasn't simply throwing out a random football comparison. He genuinely believes Messi is the better footballer and said a person's answer to that question can reveal how they think and make decisions. In his view, someone who insists Ronaldo is better is someone he would be cautious about trusting in business because, as he put it, they can "take what is true and twist it to fit their own reality."
