“I Waited 18 Years for My Twins” – Ricardo Agbor

Veteran Nollywood actor Ricardo Agbor has opened up about two of the most defining moments in his personal life, revealing how he and his wife waited 18 years before becoming parents and how losing his mother remains the deepest pain he has ever experienced.

Speaking in a recent interview with AfricanAList, the actor shared that the journey to parenthood tested his patience and faith but never weakened his commitment to his marriage. 

According to Agbor, he married the woman he loved despite them coming from different ethnic backgrounds, insisting that their cultural differences never created conflict in their home.

He explained that while many people expected challenges because of their different tribes, their relationship remained peaceful throughout the years. 

The actor said they focused on supporting each other instead of allowing societal expectations to influence their marriage.

Agbor disclosed that he spent years praying for children and was specific about what he wanted. Rather than giving up during the lengthy wait, he remained hopeful that his prayers would eventually be answered. His patience was rewarded when he and his wife welcomed a set of twins a boy and a girl after nearly two decades of marriage.

The actor described the birth of his children as one of the greatest blessings of his life, adding that the experience strengthened his belief in perseverance and faith.

Beyond his testimony about parenthood, Agbor also spoke emotionally about the death of his mother, describing it as the most heartbreaking experience he has ever faced. 

He recalled how she spent several weeks receiving treatment in hospital without showing signs of improvement.

According to him, the family later decided to transfer her to another medical facility after she expressed a desire to leave the hospital where she had been receiving treatment. Tragically, she passed away while being moved, a moment the actor said left him devastated.

Agbor admitted that the loss affected him deeply and marked one of the few occasions he had cried outside his work as an actor. He said the pain of watching his mother die remains unforgettable despite the passage of time.

Having built a successful acting career that spans several decades, Agbor believes both his struggles and victories have shaped the man he is today. 

From enduring years of childlessness to coping with personal loss, the veteran actor says his life's journey has taught him the importance of resilience, unwavering faith and appreciating every blessing that comes with time.
