Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has shared that marriage was never something she actively thought about or felt pressured to pursue while growing up.
Speaking during a recent conversation with media personality Ifedayo Agoro, the actress opened up about her personal outlook on relationships, revealing that she lived her life without the constant expectation of settling down early.
According to her, she never spent time daydreaming about weddings or building a traditional marital future, unlike what is often expected of many young women in society.
“I’ve never really been the girl who sits down and thinks about marriage. It wasn’t a thing for me,” she said during the interview. “I didn’t even know whether I was going to marry. I knew I was a catch and anyone that was going to marry me was going to be lucky.”
Kadiri also recounted how she eventually met her husband, explaining that their first interaction happened in a professional environment. She noted that although he initially tried to engage her in conversation, she was not particularly interested at the beginning.
However, their relationship gradually developed after they discovered common ground in business discussions, particularly around importation and opportunities involving Vietnam. That shared interest eventually became the foundation of a deeper connection.
The actress, known for keeping her private life away from public scrutiny, has continued to maintain a low profile when it comes to her marriage. She announced her engagement in December 2017 and later got married in a quiet ceremony in 2018.
Kadiri and her husband, Ezerika, are now parents to two daughters, Reign, born in 2019, and Emerald, born in 2022. Despite her fame and active presence on social media, she rarely shares personal details about her family life, choosing instead to keep that part of her world away from public attention.
