After successfully delivering memorable cross-cultural productions that sparked conversations across audiences, the team behind Namaste Wahala (2020) and Postcards (2024) is preparing to unveil another ambitious project.

This time, the spotlight is on Imported Bahu—an upcoming Nolly-Bollywood production scheduled to begin streaming on July 2, 2026.

Created under Forever7 Entertainment, the project introduces a new storytelling format while continuing the production company’s growing reputation for blending Nigerian and Indian influences into one cinematic experience.

Leading the cast are Osas Ighodaro and Rajniesh Duggall, bringing together two entertainment industries through a story expected to combine romance, family tension, secrets, and cultural clashes.

A New Direction After Namaste Wahala And Postcards

For audiences familiar with the producers’ earlier works, Imported Bahu represents another step in expanding cross-border storytelling.

Namaste Wahala introduced viewers to a Nigerian-Indian love story that merged traditions, humour, and romance, while Postcards expanded into a larger ensemble narrative featuring established Nollywood stars.

Now, Imported Bahu moves into an entirely different space.

Rather than releasing as a conventional film or series, the project arrives as a vertical microdrama—marking a first for Forever7 Entertainment.

Executive Producer Hamisha Daryani Ahuja officially announced the project while revealing that the production had been quietly developed for months.

According to her announcement:

“For months, we’ve been keeping a secret. Today, we’re finally sharing it. Introducing Imported Bahu — Forever7 Entertainment’s first vertical microdrama series.”

What Is Imported Bahu About?

Although full plot details remain under wraps, early descriptions suggest the series revolves around love, family expectations, hidden truths, and the arrival of one woman whose presence changes everything.

The title itself offers a clue.

The word Bahu translates to “daughter-in-law” in several South Asian languages, suggesting the story may centre around marriage, family integration, and the tensions that arise when cultures and expectations collide.

Promotional material hints that the arrival of this “Imported Bahu” creates disruption within an established family dynamic, triggering emotional conflict and unexpected revelations.

The project appears positioned to combine romance with family drama while maintaining a lighter, accessible viewing style.

Introducing A Vertical Drama Experience

One of the most interesting aspects of Imported Bahu is not only the story but also the format.

The series is being introduced as a vertical microdrama.

Unlike traditional television or cinema formats designed for horizontal screens, vertical dramas are created specifically for mobile viewing. Episodes are typically shorter, faster-paced, and filmed to fit smartphone screens.

The format has grown rapidly across several international markets and is increasingly attracting attention for its mobile-first storytelling style.

With Imported Bahu, Forever7 Entertainment enters that growing space while adapting the format for African audiences.

Streaming On A New Platform

The series will premiere exclusively on  Lebara Play, introduced as Africa’s first telecom-owned microdrama platform.

This release strategy positions Imported Bahu as more than another movie launch—it also becomes part of an evolving shift in how audiences consume entertainment.

By focusing on shorter episodes and digital accessibility, the creators appear to be targeting viewers who increasingly prefer watching content directly from their phones.

Anticipation Builds Ahead Of Release

With the trailer already generating interest and the combination of Nollywood and Bollywood attracting attention, expectations continue to grow ahead of the July 2 release.

Supported by familiar faces, a fresh storytelling approach, and a cross-cultural narrative, Imported Bahu enters the market carrying both curiosity and anticipation.

Whether audiences tune in for the romance, family drama, or the new vertical viewing experience, the project is already positioning itself as one of the more unusual releases of the season.
