British-Nigerian rapper Joseph Adenuga, popularly known as Skepta, has spoken out about what he described as rising injustice in Nigeria, urging both Nigerians and the international community to pay closer attention to the country’s challenges.

In a video message shared online, the Bad Energy Stay Far Away crooner said he feels compelled to use his platform to consistently highlight issues affecting Nigerians, whether through performances, public statements, or social influence.

According to him, Nigeria is facing deep-rooted systemic problems that are often overlooked, despite the resilience of its citizens.

“There is so much injustice in Nigeria. And whenever I can whether it is at my shows, verbally or images, whatever I can do, we are going to speak up for injustice at all time,” he said.

Skepta stressed that Nigerians have continued to show strength and endurance in difficult circumstances, but insisted that resilience should not be mistaken for comfort or acceptance of hardship.

“Nigerians need help. We need people to speak up for us as well. We need to protect Nigerians. There is so much injustice in Nigeria,” he added.

He further appealed for collective action, calling on influential voices, especially those in entertainment and global media, to help amplify the struggles of ordinary citizens.

“This is my message to the people; please, I know that we [Nigerians] are resilient and we make everything look good, but we need help, too. Please, help us,” he said.

Skepta, who has Nigerian heritage but was born and raised in the United Kingdom, has often expressed pride in his roots and frequently incorporates African identity into his music and public messaging.

Over the years, he has collaborated with several Afrobeats artistes and maintained close ties with the Nigerian music scene, helping bridge the gap between UK rap culture and African sound.

His latest comments have sparked renewed conversations online about governance, insecurity, and social justice in Nigeria, with many users agreeing with his concerns while others debated the role of celebrities in political advocacy.

Some fans praised him for using his platform to speak up, noting that international attention from prominent figures could help draw more global focus to Nigeria’s internal issues.

Others, however, argued that sustainable change must come from within the country through stronger institutions and civic engagement.

Despite the mixed reactions, Skepta’s message has added to a growing number of voices from the entertainment industry calling for reforms and accountability in Nigeria.

The rapper has previously referenced social issues in his music and public appearances, often using his influence to highlight inequality, youth struggles, and systemic challenges affecting communities in both the UK and Nigeria.

His recent remarks continue that pattern, reinforcing his position as one of the diaspora artistes who frequently engage with socio-political discussions beyond music.

As conversations around governance and justice continue across Nigeria’s digital space, Skepta’s comments have once again placed international attention on the lived realities of many citizens, especially young people navigating economic hardship and social uncertainty.
