Nigerian actress Faithia Williams has raised concerns over what she describes as poor scheduling and exhibition challenges affecting her latest movie, Efuroye, in cinemas.

The actress said the film, which began screening on May 1, has been facing continuous issues with showtimes across different cinemas, a situation she claims she does not understand.

“I have been showing my movies Efuroye since May 1st and i have been having issue with my show time which I don't know why?” she said.

Williams alleged that the situation feels intentional and has been ongoing since the release of the film, despite her repeated complaints.

“They have been trying to kill this movie since i started showing the movie which i have been complaining about,” she said.

She explained that she deliberately positioned the film for release during the Ileya season, expecting strong audience turnout, but said the response has been affected by poor scheduling.

“I actually connected the movia to Ileya that i believe this season people will come out to watch this movie but unfortunately they are giving me poor show time which I don't understand why?” she said.

The actress further stated that fans have complained about their inability to access screenings due to unfavorable schedules, while in some cases the movie is not shown at all.

“My fans go to the cinemas to watch my movie but they are all complaining they can't watch because of poor time schedule. In some cinemas they don't even show my movie at all, no show time for me. They will tell my fans Efuroye is not showing,” she said.

Williams also emphasized the financial commitment involved in the project, noting that significant funds were borrowed and invested, with expectations of returns for all stakeholders.

“They way all the new movies coming out now spent money on their movies so I spent money on my movie. Alot of money is involved in that movie that I borrowed, investors are who also invested in it are expected to get their own money and profit,” she said.

She expressed disappointment that the film was not performing as expected during the Ileya period, which she believed should have been a profitable season.

“This is Ileya I'm supposed to make lot of money but because some movies just came out and you want to keep my movies at the back,” she said.

According to her, fans and cast members who attended promotional events have also shared negative experiences regarding screening availability and treatment at cinemas.

“I got somany messages from my fans and for my actors that went for meet and greet and they treated them so unfair. You will tell my fans my movie is not showing anymore or either give them 12 noon and 9p.m show time. Who watches movies such odd hours?” she said.

She added that she has heard similar complaints affecting other filmmakers and expressed confusion over why her own situation has followed the same pattern.

“I have been hearing they do this to somany people, i don't know they are going to do it to me too,” she said.

Williams said she has repeatedly appealed for better scheduling in order to give the film a fair chance at success.

“I have been begging you people to please give me good show time so I can atleast make my own money,” she said.

She concluded by rejecting claims that the film is not performing, insisting that poor scheduling is the main issue affecting turnout.

“And they are claiming my fans are not coming out to watch that is not selling which is a fat lie. My fans came out to watch but because you gave them nonsense show hours they have to go back,” she said.
