Nigerian social media critic VeryDarkMan has praised officers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for their swift response and compassion after helping a mentally unstable woman give birth in Kwali Area Council.

Sharing details of the incident on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan recounted how the situation unfolded during a routine patrol operation carried out by officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

According to him, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 3, 2026, as security operatives intensified surveillance across the FCT ahead of the Easter celebrations.

“it happened in the early hours of April 3, 2026, during a routine surveillance operation by officers of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, deployed across the FCT due to heightened security concerns ahead of the Easter celebrations,” he wrote.

He further explained that the officers were on patrol when they suddenly heard distressing cries coming from a nearby roadside in Kwaita village.

“at about 12:20 a.m., the officers who were on patrol around Kwaita village in Kwali Area Council suddenly heard loud cries coming from the roadside,” he added.

Moved by the cries, the officers immediately approached the location, where they discovered a mentally unstable woman who had gone into labour without assistance.

Police Confirm Swift Intervention

The FCT Police Command also confirmed the incident, noting that the officers acted promptly after receiving information about the woman’s condition.

In an official statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the report was received around 12:30 a.m., which triggered an immediate response from the command.

She explained that the Officer-in-Charge of the Gender Unit at the Kwali Division quickly mobilised alongside her team to the scene.

The officers provided necessary support to the woman during the delivery process, ensuring both mother and child were safe.

VeryDarkMan Applauds Officers’ Humanity

Reacting to the development, VeryDarkMan commended the officers for their compassion and professionalism, highlighting the importance of such humane actions within law enforcement.

He described their response as commendable and worthy of recognition, especially in a time when positive stories about public service are often overlooked.

Beyond his praise, the social media critic also made a personal commitment to support the newborn child’s future.

He pledged to sponsor the child’s education, stating that he would take responsibility for the child’s schooling from primary level through university.

A Moment Of Hope Amid Security Concerns

The incident has drawn attention online, with many Nigerians applauding the officers for going beyond their primary duty to save lives in a vulnerable situation.

It also highlights the critical role of rapid emergency response, especially during periods of heightened security operations such as festive seasons.

For many, the story serves as a reminder that acts of kindness and humanity still exist within public institutions, offering a moment of hope and compassion in challenging circumstances.
