How The Feud Resurfaced
The appeal comes in the wake of a viral moment at a recent movie premiere hosted by Iyabo Ojo. During the event, Toyin Abraham approached Funke Akindele to exchange greetings, but the latter appeared to ignore her, sparking widespread reactions online.
In the circulating video, Akindele was seen seated alongside Iyabo Ojo and Mercy Aigbe when Abraham walked up to greet them. The perceived snub left many viewers surprised and quickly became a topic of discussion across social media.
Reacting afterward, Toyin Abraham expressed her displeasure and made a firm declaration about future interactions.
“I have unfollowed her, God forbid bad things. If I ever greet her again that means I’m a bastard.”
In an unexpected twist, Funke Akindele later appeared to acknowledge the statement by liking a post referencing Abraham’s comment on a blog page, further fueling conversations around the situation.
Reactions From Close Associates And Industry Voices
Toyin Abraham’s husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, also weighed in subtly, commending his wife for exercising restraint. He hinted that she had more to say but chose to remain silent out of respect for him.
Iyabo Ojo, who maintains a close relationship with both actresses, offered insight into the situation. According to her, she has made efforts to mediate but is no longer willing to intervene. She also revealed that Toyin Abraham was initially expected to feature in her movie The Return of Arinzo but withdrew at the last minute.
Several other industry figures have shared their thoughts on the matter. Actress Nkechi Blessing advised against unnecessary drama, noting that life is too short for prolonged conflict.
Media personality Do2dtun urged individuals to be mindful of their relationships, stating that people should know who to greet and who to avoid, as the industry often thrives on superficial connections.
Meanwhile, Funke Akindele’s protégé, Tobi Makinde, shared a cryptic reaction with a simple “Tor,” which many interpreted as a subtle reference to the unfolding situation.
Calls For Neutrality And Peace Efforts
Controversial socialite Bobrisky also reacted, advising fans and the public to remain neutral, emphasizing that outsiders may not fully understand the underlying issues.
Veteran actress Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, revealed that she has taken steps behind the scenes to resolve the conflict. She stated that she personally reached out to the parties involved and encouraged them to remove related content from social media, thanking them for listening.
Similarly, veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, also known as Ogogo, criticised the situation, pointing out that both actresses are too successful to be involved in such disputes. However, he maintained that he prefers not to interfere in conflicts involving women.
A Call For Unity In Nollywood
Segun Ogungbe’s message adds to the growing list of voices calling for reconciliation between the two Nollywood stars. As reactions continue to pour in, many fans and industry stakeholders are hoping that the situation will be resolved amicably.
For now, the focus remains on whether both actresses will heed the calls for peace and move past the tension that has once again placed their relationship under public scrutiny.
