Okey Bakassi Seeks Public Help After Eight Phones Disappear During Ikoyi Football Game

A casual football outing in Ikoyi took an unexpected turn after several participants reportedly lost their mobile phones in a suspected theft incident that unfolded during the game. 

What started as a normal weekend sporting activity among friends ended with confusion and concern when valuable items went missing from the sidelines.

Nigerian entertainer Okey Bakassi gave an account of how events played out during the session. He explained that their group usually gathers to play football in a relaxed atmosphere, and it is not unusual for new or unfamiliar faces to be allowed to join in the spirit of the game. On this occasion, a young man arrived at the field and requested to participate. His request was granted without hesitation, as the group saw nothing out of place in welcoming him.

According to Bakassi, the match continued normally until the visitor allegedly stepped away from active play and moved toward the bench area where players had kept their belongings. In a short space of time, he is said to have gathered multiple phones belonging to different participants. Reports indicate that about eight devices were taken before the individual left the premises unnoticed.

When the game ended and players began retrieving their items, the discovery of missing phones triggered concern. By then, the suspect had already left the scene, making immediate recovery efforts difficult. The matter has since been escalated to the appropriate authorities, with investigations underway to determine the identity and whereabouts of the individual involved.

In response to the incident, Bakassi has reached out to the public for assistance, particularly appealing to individuals with the technical ability to track mobile devices. He expressed willingness to reward anyone who can provide useful support in recovering the stolen items. In his words:
