Controversy continues to trail Nigerian relationship therapist Blessing CEO as the doctor she claimed diagnosed her with breast cancer has publicly denied any involvement, raising fresh concerns over the authenticity of her health claims.
In a statement released through the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Odigwe clarified that he never issued any medical report to Blessing CEO. He also refuted claims about his location, stating that he resides in Asaba, not Enugu as previously alleged.
The association further disclosed that the medical document presented by Blessing was not hers, alleging that it had been altered. According to the statement, the report originally belonged to another individual identified as Mbara Deborah.
The medical body expressed concern over the situation, urging relevant authorities to take appropriate action to prevent members of the public from being misled or exploited.
Doctors Raise Questions Over Alleged Diagnosis
The issue gained further attention after Dr Adefunke Arowolo addressed the matter during an appearance on Arise TV. During the interview, she challenged the authenticity of the cancer diagnosis presented by Blessing CEO.
According to her, the document shown by the therapist matched a viral report already linked to an ongoing dispute involving another family. It was also revealed that the doctor whose name appeared on the report had been contacted and denied issuing such a document.
Conflicting Statements From Blessing CEO
Despite the mounting allegations, Blessing CEO has maintained a defiant stance. In a separate interview with Egungun, she stated that she would not apologise to Nigerians for receiving financial support during the controversy.
“I can never apologise to Nigerians for receiving money from them,” she said, revealing that she raised approximately N13 million through donations.
She, however, admitted that she may have exaggerated aspects of her condition, explaining that she relied on what she believed was information provided by a doctor regarding lumps in her breast.
Initial Claims And Public Appeal
The controversy began when Blessing CEO took to social media, announcing that she was battling stage 4 breast cancer. In an emotional video, she expressed fear and exhaustion, stating that she was struggling with the situation.
During a subsequent Instagram live session with media personality Daddy Freeze, she attempted to clarify her claims. She stated that she had been diagnosed in a Nigerian hospital but admitted she was unsure of the stage of the illness.
She also explained that she did not have a clear estimate for treatment costs but sought financial assistance in anticipation of surgery, acknowledging that she may have overstated her situation.
Addressing accusations that she falsified her medical results, she challenged her critics to present proof and even invited legal action.
Backlash And Social Media Exit
Following widespread criticism and growing scrutiny, Blessing CEO deactivated her Instagram account, further fueling public debate over the incident.
Her partner, IVD, also took a similar step, with his account reportedly no longer accessible at the time of reporting.
The situation has sparked intense reactions online, with many calling for accountability and stricter measures to prevent misinformation, especially on sensitive issues such as health.
As investigations and public discussions continue, the case highlights the dangers of misinformation and the importance of verifying medical claims before seeking public support.
