Nigerian actress Teniola Aladese has offered a rare and candid glimpse into her personal life, sharing her thoughts on relationships, attention from admirers, and the realities of dating in a bustling city like Lagos.
During her appearance on the popular I Said What I Said podcast, the film star spoke openly about the constant stream of messages she receives from men. Rather than sounding flattered, she expressed amusement at the boldness she encounters online. “Men have audacity. If I open my DMs for you, you will see a lot,” she said, painting a vivid picture of just how active her inbox can be.
Even with the steady attention, Aladese made it clear that finding a meaningful connection is not as simple as it may seem. She described the Lagos dating environment in blunt terms, calling it “stressful” and “a very big mess.” Her words reflect the complexity and unpredictability that often come with dating in a fast-paced city where expectations, lifestyles, and intentions can easily clash.
Interestingly, while she admitted that dating can be exhausting, her personal encounters have not been particularly negative.
According to her, she has managed to avoid truly bad experiences.
“I have never had a terrible date. It is just that after the first date, I already know that you will never see me again,” she explained. Her statement suggests a strong sense of self-awareness and clarity when it comes to recognizing compatibility early.
A major talking point from her conversation was her firm stance on dating within her profession. Aladese did not hesitate to draw a line, stating clearly that she has no interest in romantic relationships with fellow actors. For her, that option is completely off the table. “I don’t want to date an actor. I wouldn’t mind the upper echelons like producers, directors, but actors are a no for me,” she said.
Her preference points to a desire for a certain level of separation between her personal life and the specific demands of acting. By leaning toward individuals in other roles within the film industry, she appears to favor a dynamic that offers balance rather than overlap.
Through her honest remarks, Aladese presents herself as someone who knows exactly what she wants and is unafraid to say it. Her approach to dating reflects clarity, boundaries, and a willingness to walk away when something doesn’t feel right.
