Faithia Williams Releases Details of Private Funeral for Late Mother

Nollywood actress Faithia Williams has shared the burial arrangements for her late mother, Mrs. Gloria Uzoamaka Williams, weeks after announcing her passing.

The actress posted a flier outlining the scheduled ceremonies, revealing that a wake-keep will hold on Friday, March 6. This will be followed by the interment and lying-in-state. A Thanksgiving Mass is also slated for Sunday, March 8, at St. Monica Catholic Church.

Faithia explained that the family has chosen to keep the funeral rites private, limiting attendance to close relatives and trusted friends. According to her, a separate date will later be announced for a larger gathering to accommodate well-wishers and members of the public.

“I want to specifically thank everyone who has reached out since the demise of my dear mother. I’m truly grateful for the emotional support, the calls, the visits, and the show of love. May Allah (SWT) bless you all,” she wrote.

Addressing inquiries about the burial plans, she added, “For those who have asked for the burial details, the family has decided on a private ceremony strictly for close friends and relatives. However, a later date will be announced for the final burial ceremony that will accommodate all and sundry.”

The actress also stressed that access to the ceremony will be strictly by invitation, cautioning that only messages sent from designated numbers will be recognised.

“Please note that if this invitation does not come from a designated number, there will be no admission into the hall. Thank you once again for the show of love. I do not take your expressions of love for granted. Thank you, and God bless you,” she stated.

Faithia first broke the news of her mother’s passing last month, revealing that the heartbreaking loss occurred on the eve of her 55th birthday celebration. She described her late mother as her biggest supporter, prayer warrior, confidant, and gist partner, admitting that the reality of the loss had not fully sunk in.

Actress Regina Chukwu later shared a touching video capturing the emotional moment Faithia received the devastating news. In the clip, the grieving actress was seen in tears while colleagues gathered around to comfort her.

Still mourning, Faithia subsequently posted a dark image on social media, expressing how broken and empty she felt. She also shared a poignant video of her mother’s birthday message to her, written before her passing. Reflecting on the loss, she revealed it had been days since she last heard her mother’s voice and confessed that she remained shattered.

The painful experience comes barely a year after Faithia lost her father in April 2024. She had announced his death via Instagram, expressing sorrow and praying for his peaceful rest. He was later buried according to Islamic rites, with several colleagues in attendance, and she publicly appreciated those who stood by her during that difficult time.

As she prepares to lay her mother to rest, Faithia continues to receive an outpouring of sympathy and support from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers across the entertainment industry.
