A Lagos-based law firm, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, has issued a pre-action notice to music star Davido, born David Adedeji Adeleke, over allegations of harassment, cyberbullying, threats to life, and defamation against one of its partners, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah.
In a letter dated February 24, 2026, the firm stated that it was acting on the firm instructions of Mrs. Enedah and formally notifying the singer of her intention to commence legal proceedings against him. The letter, which was signed by Decency Nkume, Associate, and Nnamdi Oragwu, Partner, set out the claims and demands arising from the incident.
“We are Counsel to Mrs Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah (hereinafter referred to as ‘Our Client’), on whose unequivocal instruction, we notify you of her intention to commence legal action against you,” the letter read.
According to the firm, the dispute originated during proceedings in Suit No: LD/1587PMC/2024 — David Adeleke v. Sophia Momodu — which took place at the Lagos State High Court on February 12, 2026. Mrs. Enedah appeared in court as counsel to the respondent, Sophia Momodu, in what has been described as an ongoing custody-related matter.
The law firm alleged that Davido conducted himself in an aggressive and verbally abusive manner toward the lawyer during the hearing.
“Your conduct deteriorated to such a degree that physical restraint became necessary to prevent further disruption to the proceedings,” the firm claimed in the notice.
It further stated that the presiding judge directed the singer to apologise openly in court for his conduct but that he allegedly failed to comply with that instruction.
“The Honourable Court directed you to apologise to Our Client in open court for your conduct, which directive you disobeyed,” the letter added.
Beyond the courtroom confrontation, the firm alleged that the matter escalated onto social media, where posts attributed to Davido and accounts allegedly affiliated with him were said to have exposed Mrs. Enedah to widespread public harassment and threats.
Among the statements cited in the letter were: “I disgraced you in the courtroom… I was teaching you your work, you couldn’t even take it… You are a wicked human being, UR THE WORST LAWYER EVER! I BEAT YOU IN COURT!”
Describing the comments as calculated and damaging, the firm argued that such language went beyond personal grievance.
“To publicly brand a lawyer of her standing as ‘THE WORST LAWYER EVER’ is not the expression of grievance. It is a deliberate and malicious act of reputational destruction,” the notice stated.
The firm further alleged that the fallout from the online posts was immediate and severe.
“The consequences were swift and severe. Our Client was immediately subjected to a torrent of abusive text messages, threatening telephone calls, and explicit threats to her safety and the safety of her family,” the letter read.
Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors emphasised that lawyers are entitled to carry out their professional responsibilities without fear of intimidation, harassment, or public ridicule, especially in cases involving the custody and welfare of a child. The firm maintained that such conduct undermines not only the individual practitioner but also the integrity of the judicial process.
As part of its demands, the firm called for the immediate cessation of further commentary regarding the pending suit. It also requested a clear public retraction of the allegedly defamatory statements and an apology.
“You are hereby required to issue a clear and unequivocal public statement withdrawing the defamatory statements and offering an unreserved apology to Our Client,” it stated.
In addition, the firm disclosed that Mrs. Enedah is seeking damages in the sum of ₦1,000,000,000 for the alleged harassment, defamation, and emotional distress she claims to have suffered.
The notice warned that failure to comply within seven days of receipt would prompt the commencement of legal proceedings at the Lagos State High Court.
“Should you fail, refuse, or neglect to comply with the above demands within seven (7) days of receipt of this letter, Our Client shall, without further recourse to you, commence an action at the High Court of Lagos to seek the reliefs outlined herein,” the letter concluded.
The development is the latest twist in the protracted custody and child support dispute between Davido and Sophia Momodu, a matter that has consistently drawn public and media attention.
As of the time of filing this report, Davido has not issued any public response to the allegations or the demands outlined in the pre-action notice.
