Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has publicly criticised her former best friend, Tonto Dikeh, following the latter’s recent decision to drop “King” from her name.
Tonto had earlier announced that she was letting go of the title after eight years, explaining that the move was in obedience to the Holy Spirit and in alignment with God’s will for her life. She urged the public to address her as Evangelist Tonto Dikeh, stressing that her decision was spiritually guided.
Reacting strongly to the announcement, Doris accused the actress of misleading the public and living what she described as a fake life. In a series of heated posts, she claimed she was restraining herself from revealing more details about their past friendship.
“No, you for dey answer King ode.
They deceive people with nonsense Christianity.
Gossip like you.
Fake ass human being.
U get lucky, I can’t say much, my talk is limited.
Guys, who does she look like?
Remember, she was looking like me when I was fighting for her; now she’s looking exactly like the pastor’s wife.
When they steal your destiny, they start looking like you.
This bastard has been the one behind my issues with Chris Okafor, fueling it from the beginning.
Witchcraft.
Wearing people’s look.
Ode.
God will expose you soon.
You get lucky, I’m not allowed to talk about you,” Doris wrote.
Beyond criticising the name change, Doris further alleged that Tonto was responsible for her past issues with clergyman Chris Okafor, claiming the actress secretly instigated the conflict. She also made controversial remarks suggesting “destiny swapping” and accused Tonto of trying to imitate her appearance.
The latest outburst adds another chapter to the long-running and often dramatic fallout between the two actresses, who were once known to be close friends.
In 2024, Doris had earlier accused Tonto of recruiting people against her and denied claims that she was gifted a Bentley by the actress. She insisted she was not the type to be manipulated and maintained that the public perception of their friendship was exaggerated.
During a previous online clash, Doris urged Nigerians not to associate her with Tonto, stating that she values her integrity. She also clarified at the time that they were never as close as many believed, explaining that they only met occasionally whenever she visited Abuja.
In another heated moment, Doris described Tonto as the most heartless person she had ever known and expressed regret over their association.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Doris later apologised publicly to Tonto, Angela Okorie, and Emeka Rollas, referring to them as friends. She admitted that although she felt hurt by them, she may have overreacted. While tendering her apology, she disclosed that she had been traumatised and dealing with personal challenges at the time.
Their reconciliation did not appear to last. The fallout came as a shock to many fans, especially considering that in 2024, Tonto had reportedly gifted Doris a new car. Doris shared the news on Instagram at the time and even threw subtle shade at social critic VeryDarkMan, clarifying that the car was neither a loan repayment nor a replacement for anything.
Interestingly, this is not the first time the former best friends have clashed publicly. Years ago, they exchanged subtle jabs on Instagram, with Tonto posting about removing people who were unworthy from her life. Doris responded at the time by mocking individuals who believed they were smart despite having “tiny brains.”
With Doris’ latest comments, it appears the tension between the two actresses has resurfaced once again, reigniting public interest in their complicated and often turbulent relationship.
