Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has issued a strong warning over what he described as false and damaging accusations linking him romantically to his colleague Bamike Olawunmi, popularly known as Bambam.
The actor made his position clear in a statement shared on X, where he called out the spread of unverified rumours surrounding his professional relationship with the actress.
According to Arukwe, a specific social media account has been identified as the source of the claims. While he declined to publicly mention the handle in question, he made it known that he is considering legal action.
He accused the individual of deliberately spreading baseless stories for attention and engagement, warning that there could be serious consequences.
Arukwe stressed that he would not amplify the account by quoting it directly, noting that some online users thrive on controversy and monetised engagement at the expense of others’ reputations.
The controversy stems from online speculation surrounding Bambam’s marriage to her husband, Tope Adenibuyan, widely known as Teddy A.
Social media users began to speculate about possible issues in the couple’s relationship after noticing changes in their online activity, including reported unfollowing incidents. As rumours gained traction, some users allegedly linked Arukwe to the supposed marital tension, despite no confirmed evidence supporting such claims.
Arukwe firmly rejected the narrative, maintaining that his connection with Bambam is strictly professional.
The two actors recently starred together in the 2025 Nollywood romantic drama Love in Every Word, produced by Omoni Oboli and directed by Stanley Obi. In the film, Bambam portrayed Chioma while Arukwe played Odogwu Obiora.
The movie, released on YouTube, attracted millions of views and drew praise from audiences who admired the chemistry between the lead actors.
However, the positive reception of their on-screen partnership appears to have fueled speculation off-screen. Arukwe’s statement suggests frustration with how quickly admiration for fictional characters can evolve into personal accusations against actors.
Bambam has not publicly addressed the latest rumours, and Teddy A has also not made any statement connecting Arukwe to his marriage.
The silence from both parties has not stopped online discussions, but Arukwe’s response signals that he intends to draw a firm boundary.
The incident highlights the growing challenge celebrities face in the digital age, where social media speculation can quickly spiral into reputational damage.
For public figures, separating professional roles from personal lives has become increasingly difficult, particularly when fans blur the line between fiction and reality.
By threatening legal action, Arukwe appears determined to protect his name and discourage what he described as clout-chasing behaviour. His response sends a broader message about accountability online and the consequences of spreading unverified allegations.
As the situation unfolds, observers will be watching to see whether further statements or actions follow. For now, Arukwe has made one thing clear: he will not tolerate what he considers false accusations aimed at damaging his reputation
