A new controversy has erupted in Nollywood as actress Lizzy Gold publicly confronted her colleague, Ekene Umenwa, over allegations of spreading damaging falsehoods about fellow actors.

The drama follows a recent revelation by rising actress Adanma Waller, popularly known as Priscawalls, who released a video accusing Ekene of making disparaging comments about several industry colleagues behind their backs. In the viral clip, Priscawalls named a number of actresses who were allegedly targeted, including Ruby Ojiakor, Lizzy Gold, Chioma Chijioke, Uche Nancy, and Chinedu Isaac, among others.

Reacting strongly to the claims, Lizzy Gold took to her Instagram page to express outrage, describing the situation as deeply hurtful and disappointing. She criticised Ekene for allegedly portraying herself as deeply religious while, at the same time, spreading harmful narratives about others.

“How can you call yourself Jesus Baby and all you do is sit down and fabricate huge lies just to tarnish your colleagues’ image?” Lizzy wrote. “Is it so you could come off as the better person, or what?”

Addressing specific accusations, Lizzy firmly denied claims that she had body odour, insisting that her personal hygiene is well known within the industry.

“Me, body odour? Everyone in Nollywood knows my personal hygiene. It’s not even something I need to prove to anyone,” she stated.

She also dismissed allegations that she has two children by different men, questioning the basis for such claims and emphasising that Ekene does not have any personal relationship with her that could justify such assertions.

“That my two kids are from different men? How? Are we friends? Do you know anything about me?” Lizzy asked.

The actress explained that she intentionally keeps her distance from certain individuals in the industry to avoid unnecessary drama, yet still found herself dragged into what she described as “cheap, dirty gossip.”

“This is exactly why I always maintain my space to avoid your kind, yet you still found a way to involve my name,” she said. “Jesus baby, my foot. You’d better ask God for forgiveness and mercy. You are such a terrible human being.”

Expressing concern about the damage such allegations could cause, Lizzy highlighted the years of effort she invested in building her career and reputation.

“Do you know how long it took me to build this brand? It is well,” she concluded.

The controversy also drew reactions from other Nollywood stars, including Destiny Etiko, who expressed shock at the unfolding drama. In a post on her Instagram page, Etiko questioned Ekene’s alleged actions, noting that she believed they were close.

“I thought we were sisters. Why the lies?” Etiko asked.

In a follow-up message, Etiko revealed that Ekene had reached out to apologise, but said the emotional impact of the accusations still lingered. She described the alleged actions as deeply painful and difficult to overlook.

“She has asked for forgiveness, but I haven’t forgotten what she did to me. It’s an abomination,” Etiko wrote, adding that Ekene allegedly spread falsehoods about her simply because she is known to be dutiful to her mother.

The unfolding saga has stirred widespread reactions across social media, with fans and industry observers weighing in on the accusations and counter-accusations. While Ekene Umenwa has yet to publicly respond to Lizzy Gold’s remarks, many are calling for clarity, accountability, and reconciliation within the Nollywood community.

As the story continues to develop, it highlights ongoing concerns about trust, professionalism, and the impact of rumours in the entertainment industry.
