 Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid, Burna Boy and Asake have been unveiled as headliners for the 2026 edition of Afro Nation Festival scheduled to take place in Portugal.


 The organisers confirmed the lineup on Thursday through their official X page, sparking excitement among music lovers across Africa and beyond. 


The festival, widely regarded as one of the biggest global celebrations of African music, will return to Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão for a three-day showcase from July 3 to July 5, 2026.


The announcement highlighted a blend of Afrobeats, R&B, dancehall and amapiano stars expected to deliver electrifying performances. 


According to the organisers, the upcoming edition aims to merge legacy acts with fresh talents shaping the future of African music. In their post unveiling the new acts, they wrote, “PHASE 3 IS HERE. Legacy energy meets Afro Nation debuts. This is the sound of a summer taking shape.”


Grammy Award winner Burna Boy will headline the opening night on July 3. The African Giant is expected to thrill fans with his globally celebrated catalogue and energetic stage presence.


 He will share the spotlight with South African sensation Tyla, whose international rise has continued to draw massive attention to amapiano music. 


Asake, known for his unique fusion of Fuji, Afrobeats and street pop, will take centre stage on July 4. His performances have consistently drawn large crowds, making him one of the most sought-after acts in recent years.


Wizkid will close the festival on July 5 with what is expected to be a memorable headline performance. The multi-award-winning singer remains one of Africa’s most influential global music exports, with a track record of delivering captivating live shows.

 His presence at Afro Nation further reinforces the festival’s commitment to showcasing top-tier African talent on the world stage.


The 2026 lineup also features American R&B star Kehlani and rapper Gunna as special guests, adding international appeal to the event. Several Nigerian artistes are billed to perform, including Olamide, Young Jonn, Darkoo, Wande Coal and Mavo. 

Their inclusion highlights the continued dominance of Nigerian acts in shaping the global Afrobeats movement.


Afro Nation has grown into a cultural phenomenon since its debut, attracting thousands of fans from different parts of the world. 

The festival not only celebrates music but also promotes African culture, fashion and creativity. Each edition has played a major role in elevating African artistes to wider audiences while strengthening cross-cultural collaborations.
