Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has kicked off the year with words of motivation and self-reflection as he unveiled his personal motto for 2026, offering important advice to Nigerians and his numerous followers on social media.
Taking to his Instagram page, the actor and former presidential aspirant revealed that his 2026 motto is “No gree for yourself,” a phrase he explained was rooted in self-accountability and courage.
According to Yul, many people often blame enemies, spiritual forces, or so-called “village people” for their lack of progress, when in reality, they are the ones standing in their own way.
The outspoken actor noted that laziness, fear of failure, fear of public opinion, and fear of the unknown are some of the major factors holding people back from achieving their dreams. He urged his followers to confront these fears head-on and stop allowing them to dictate their actions.
In his words, “Sometimes, it’s not your enemies stopping you; it’s not your village people; it’s you who is stopping you. Laziness, fear of failure, fear of what people will say, fear of the unknown. This year, don’t allow yourself to stop you.”
Encouraging boldness and decisive action, Yul admonished people to take risks, make difficult calls, and embrace positive changes, no matter how intimidating they may seem.
He stressed that the very opportunities that scare people the most are often the ones capable of transforming their lives.
“Throw fear away. Make that move, make that big call, take that bold step. That positive thing that scares you the most, that’s what you should do in 2026,” he added.
Yul Edochie has become known for sharing motivational messages alongside controversial opinions, frequently sparking conversations online.
In 2024, the actor made headlines when he credited himself as the originator of the phrase “Nwunye Odogwu,” which he first used in 2022 while praising his second wife, Judy Austin. According to him, the term later gained widespread popularity, with many Nigerians adopting it.
He also previously claimed ownership of the popular slang “No gree for anybody,” stating that people had repeatedly told him he was responsible for popularising the phrase. After looking into it, Yul said he believed the claims and began demanding recognition for coining the slogan.
Still on his motivational drive, the son of veteran actor Pete Edochie has consistently advised Nigerians to focus on their personal growth rather than competing with others. He has repeatedly emphasised that the real competition is against poverty and stagnation, not fellow human beings.
In past messages, Yul has also encouraged Nigerians to help others when blessed, even if the gesture goes unappreciated.
Addressing young people, he has warned against crime, stressing that no material possession, phone, or financial gain is worth taking a life for. He urged youths to embrace legitimate businesses and resist intimidation.
The actor has equally spoken about the need to spread love in a world filled with hate, envy, and bitterness, urging people to counter negativity with kindness.
With his 2026 motto, Yul Edochie once again positions himself as a vocal advocate for self-growth, courage, and accountability, reminding Nigerians that sometimes the biggest obstacle to success is the person staring back in the mirror.
