Former Big Brother Naija housemate Cross Okonkwo has opened up about an experience he says cost him a business opportunity, claiming that his outspoken Christian faith became a stumbling block in a potential deal.
The reality TV star shared the revelation in a series of posts on X, where he alleged that a prospective business partner refused to work with him because of his public expression of faith in Jesus Christ. According to Cross, the decision was based solely on his religious stance and not on his professional abilities.
“You are mad and don’t want to work with me because I have made my faith in Jesus Christ very clear and bold. Lol one day I will buy your company and buy everything you own. Mark my words,” he wrote.
Cross’ statement immediately sparked conversations online, with supporters applauding his boldness while others debated the place of personal beliefs in professional relationships. For the former BBNaija star, however, the issue was clear-cut. He maintained that no opportunity, no matter how lucrative, is worth compromising his convictions.
He went on to stress that money, fame, or social relevance do not define his sense of purpose. Instead, he believes that everything he needs comes from God and that success should not be pursued at the expense of one’s values.
“I will NEVER do anything evil for money. Even if I become the poorest or the brokest human being on earth. I don’t care about fame. Yes I’m glad and blessed that I’m a famous person but that doesn’t change anything. All wealth belongs to my father. He alone has the secret to All things,” he stated.
Cross also addressed assumptions people often make about him based on his appearance on Big Brother Naija. He explained that while the public may still associate him with his reality TV persona, he has experienced significant personal and spiritual growth since leaving the show.
According to him, although his physical appearance may not have changed much, his mindset and inner life are no longer the same as what viewers saw on television.
“I think a lot of people still think I’m the same guy that was in the big brother house. It may be the same body, face. image but definitely not the same spirit and soul. So pls get that out of your head and have peace with it,” he added.
The former housemate further cautioned fans and critics against comparing him with other ex-BBNaija contestants. While acknowledging his fellow alumni, Cross emphasised that everyone is on a different path, shaped by personal experiences, beliefs, and life choices.
He made it clear that his journey should not be measured against that of others, noting that differences in outlook and priorities are natural.
“And pls don’t ever compare me to any of my fellow big brother siblings. We all have different views to life. I love everyone of them. And I wish everyone the best,” he concluded.
Since leaving the BBNaija house, Cross has remained in the public eye, building a following through brand partnerships, appearances, and social media engagement. In recent times, he has become more vocal about his faith, frequently sharing messages centred on Christianity, discipline, and personal transformation.
His latest disclosure adds to a growing list of public figures who have spoken about the challenges of maintaining strong religious beliefs in industries driven by image, influence, and commercial interests. For Cross, however, the loss of a deal appears to have reinforced rather than weakened his resolve.
While he did not disclose the identity of the company or individual involved, his message was clear: his faith is non-negotiable, and any opportunity that requires him to downplay or abandon it is not worth pursuing.
As reactions continue to trail his comments, Cross remains unapologetic, positioning himself as someone who would rather walk alone than succeed at the cost of his beliefs.
