Grief filled the air on Thursday evening as members of the Nollywood community, family members and close friends gathered to honour the life of late actress Allwell Ademola during an emotional Service of Songs held in her memory. The atmosphere was heavy with sorrow as colleagues took turns to reflect on her life, kindness and impact, many struggling to hold back tears.

Several emotional moments stood out during the solemn event, particularly when actors Biola Bayo, Rotimi Salami and Saidi Balogun broke down while speaking about their bond with the late actress.

In her tribute, Biola Bayo reminded attendees of the unpredictability of life and urged people to cherish their loved ones while they still can. She described Allwell as both a sister and a close friend, expressing comfort in knowing she stood by her during her lifetime.

“Nobody knows tomorrow, treat your loved ones with love. I was always with Allwell, and she would snap pictures and post them. For the first time in my life, I’ve come to appreciate making videos. Allwell was my sister and friend, and I find solace in the fact that I did all I could for her when she was alive,” Biola said tearfully.

Actor Rotimi Salami shared a deeply personal testimony, revealing that Allwell played a major role in changing his life and career when he was struggling to find his footing in Nollywood. According to him, her support marked a turning point that ended years of hardship.

“I suffered a lot in the English movie industry, and God used Allwell to give me hope again. She singlehandedly, with the help of God, picked me up, and all my suffering became a thing of the past,” he said.

Still visibly shaken, Rotimi added that days of constant tears had not eased the pain of her loss. He admitted that life felt unsettled but said he was trying to stay strong for his family, friends, fans and, most importantly, his children.

Biola Bayo also recalled the last moments she spent with the late actress, describing her as one of the happiest souls she had ever encountered. Overwhelmed with emotion, she said the loss felt unreal and pleaded for someone to wake her from what felt like a nightmare.

Actress Regina Chukwu, who was also present, admitted she was still struggling to accept Allwell’s passing. She revealed that they had been actively planning a sequel to the movie Aarin together, making the loss even harder to process.

Jamiu Azeez, another colleague, reflected on his final interaction with Allwell, noting that she was full of life and laughter. He said they shared joyful moments together shortly before her death.

“She was so lively. We laughed, played, and had so much fun. Now she’s gone,” he said, adding that Allwell was friendly with everyone and recalling the last words he spoke to her.

Beyond the Service of Songs, tributes continued to pour in from across the industry. During her recent 40th birthday celebration, actress Folorunsho Adeola had honoured Allwell with a moment of silence, ensuring she received special recognition.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Folorunsho wrote about how deeply Allwell mattered to her, recounting her kindness and generosity. She noted that although the actress was no longer physically present, her spirit lived on.

“Though you are no longer here, you live in our stories, our prayers, and our quiet moments,” she wrote.

Veteran actor Saidi Balogun also paid tribute by sharing a photo of himself with the late actress from a past event. Describing her death as surreal, he expressed a wish to turn back the hands of time but acknowledged that God knows best.

“It feels unreal. I wish I could turn back the hands of time, but God knows best. Your smile remains frozen in time, and your aura is unforgettable,” he wrote.

As tributes continue, Allwell Ademola is being remembered not just as a talented actress, but as a loving friend whose presence touched many lives within and beyond Nollywood.
