The year 2025 proved to be a turbulent one for several high-profile Nigerian celebrity marriages, as a number of unions collapsed under public scrutiny, controversy, and unresolved personal issues.

From music icons to Nollywood stars, the entertainment industry witnessed dramatic marital crises that dominated headlines and social media conversations throughout the year.

One of the most shocking separations involved music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, and his wife of 12 years, actress Annie Macaulay Idibia.

The couple, who got married in 2012 after a long and complicated relationship, officially announced their separation on January 26, 2025.

2Face made the announcement via his Instagram page, citing irreconcilable differences following years of public accusations and allegations of infidelity. Just days after confirming the split, the singer unveiled a new partner, Natasha Osawaru, further fueling public debate and reactions.

Another celebrity marriage that dominated discussions was that of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and Delta State senator Ned Nwoko. The couple, who married traditionally in 2019, had long faced criticism due to their wide age gap.

In February 2025, rumours emerged that actress Chika Ike was pregnant with Nwoko’s child, though all parties involved denied the claims.

Matters escalated in October when Regina released a viral video accusing the senator of domestic violence. The situation worsened after her brother, Sammy, intervened and was subsequently arrested before being granted bail.

In November 2025, Regina took to social media to deny allegations of drug use leveled against her by her husband. She accused Nwoko of isolating her from her children and revealed that although they had a traditional wedding, their marriage was never legally registered.

Senator Nwoko, however, dismissed her claims in a statement, alleging that Regina’s issues were influenced by those around her. While the status of their marriage remains uncertain, both parties continue to stand by their opposing narratives.'

Popular comedian Sabinus, whose real name is Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, also confirmed the end of his marriage to Ciana Chapman in December 2025.

The couple, who wed privately in 2023, reportedly separated over issues bordering on infidelity and financial disagreements. Sabinus, however, stated during a TikTok livestream that they are focused on co-parenting their daughter amicably.

Similarly, actress Anita Joseph confirmed the end of her marriage to hypeman Fisayo Olagunju, popularly known as MC Fish, on December 22, 2025.

Married in 2020, the couple’s split was surrounded by allegations of financial dependence, which MC Fish denied, claiming instead that the actress initiated the relationship.

Meanwhile, rumours continue to trail the marriage of Nollywood actors Frederick Leonard and Peggy Ovire. Although neither party has confirmed a separation, signs such as Ovire removing Leonard’s name from her Instagram bio and their absence from public events have raised speculation.

As 2025 came to an end, these celebrity marital breakdowns highlighted the pressures of fame, public scrutiny, and unresolved personal conflicts within high-profile relationships.
