Reality TV personality Cynthia Nwadiora, popularly known as CeeC, has offered a deeper insight into how public perception has shaped—and sometimes distorted—her identity in the eyes of fans.
In a recent episode of the Echo Room podcast, the former Big Brother Naija finalist spoke candidly about the long-standing belief that she is arrogant, explaining that the label is not only inaccurate but also a reflection of how easily people judge without understanding.
CeeC revealed that one of the biggest challenges of being a public figure in Nigeria is that opinions spread quickly, and negative narratives often travel faster than the truth. According to her, many people form opinions based solely on what they hear, rather than on any personal experience or interaction. She expressed frustration over how this tendency has shaped the way some individuals perceive her.
In her words: “As I said, usually in Nigeria, where a lot of people follow the bad work. Like if somebody says, ‘Oh, this person is bad,’ people don’t even wait to experience you. They just, oh yeah, they say she’s a bad person. So people don’t actually get to know you. So yeah, a lot of people see my confidence as being arrogant.”
The reality star explained that her personality has always been grounded in confidence, self-awareness, and a strong sense of identity. But because she carries herself with boldness, many interpret it as a sign of pride or superiority. CeeC noted that this misunderstanding has cost her opportunities and relationships, as people often decide who she is before giving her a chance.
She continued by emphasizing that anyone who meets her in person rarely leaves with the same negative perception. “But I would say something that you cannot meet me in person or experience me as a person, and go home and say I’m arrogant. You would definitely have a change of mindset about me.” According to her, personal interaction provides clarity and reveals her true nature—something online narratives cannot accurately capture.
CeeC went on to share how painful it can be to hear people make assumptions about her character without having met her. She described it as disheartening, especially because these assumptions affect how others approach her. “So it has cost me a lot, because I hear some people say, ‘Oh, that one, she’s just arrogant. You don’t even know me,’ but that’s what you, you know, like.”
Despite the challenges, CeeC explained that she has found a way to handle the misconceptions. Rather than letting negative labels define her, she focuses on ensuring that anyone who interacts with her walks away with a more accurate understanding. “One thing that I’ve tried to do is I make sure that when you meet me, when you give me the grace to get to know me, you will not go home feeling that way.”
Her reflections shine a light on the experiences of many public figures who struggle with being misunderstood in an age where social media often amplifies assumptions. For CeeC, the goal is simple: to remain authentic while giving people the chance to know the real her—not the version shaped by rumours or online commentary.
