Former Big Brother Naija star Queen Mercy Atang has stirred reactions online following her comment on the resurfaced viral video showing legendary Nigerian singer 2Baba allegedly being arrested in the UK after an altercation with his wife, Annie Idibia, also known in the viral clip as Natasha.
The controversy originally made headlines in October, when reports circulated that 2Baba had been involved in a heated confrontation with his then-pregnant wife and was subsequently arrested. At the time, the singer denied all claims, insisting that he missed his scheduled appearance due to “an urgent medical emergency.” He expressed gratitude to the organisers and fans who still attended the event and promised to deliver an exceptional performance in the future.
However, newly released online videos have reignited the story. One of the clips shows 2Baba in handcuffs, being escorted into a police vehicle. Another video captures Natasha stepping out of a bus, confronting him emotionally and reminding him: “I’m carrying your child.”
Reacting to the viral footage, Queen Mercy Atang took to a popular blog’s comment section to express what many described as relief and satisfaction. In her words, “Aww, peace of mind is so beautiful.”
When questioned by an Instagram user, Queen defended her stance by referring to Annie as a sister, adding that she knew how deeply Annie invested in her marriage. She wrote.
“Hey Hun, my sister was in this marriage, remember? As an Akwa Ibom girl, trust me when I say she gave it her all. Xoxo.”
This resurfaced drama comes weeks after 2Baba publicly celebrated Natasha’s birthday, where he professed deep affection for her, saying he didn’t know how to fully express the overwhelming love she had shown him. The singer openly declared that he loved Natasha “from the depths of his heart” and looked forward to building a life with her.
Despite keeping their relationship relatively private afterwards, 2Baba was recently seen at a nightclub introducing Natasha as his “African Queen,” further fueling public discussion about his marriage and personal life.
