A member of a terrorist group has openly claimed responsibility for the recent abductions of students in Kebbi and Niger States, boasting in a circulating video that the group intends to target soldiers and prominent political figures in its next wave of attacks. In the disturbing footage, he further asserted that the Nigerian government is powerless to stop their operations.
The shocking declaration has triggered nationwide outrage and heightened fear, especially as the northern region continues to battle rising cases of mass kidnappings, banditry, and escalating insecurity. Many Nigerians on social media expressed frustration over the country’s worsening security situation and the boldness with which criminal groups now operate.
On X (formerly Twitter), citizens reacted strongly to the terrorist’s claim:
@TaraBlinz remarked: “This kind of boast shouldn’t even be possible in a functioning country. How did we get here?”
@n95ly added: “Abeg government officials make them carry all of them. Na them hold the funds, na them dey live the life. Abeg leave innocent citizens, carry the senior men wey matter.”
@justkency expressed concern, saying: “The current state of Nigeria. We have emboldened criminals and made them courageous. Even they have a spokesman who goes from one media house to another pleading their case.”
@official_olando_ commented: “If you guys had started with politicians and government officials, who would have been complaining???”
The resurfacing of this video has amplified calls for stronger intelligence operations, improved military response, and government transparency as citizens grow increasingly anxious about the future of national security in Nigeria.
