The Ogun State Ministry of Justice has announced that it is fast-tracking legal action against TikTok content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, following a series of road traffic incidents that have raised serious public safety concerns.

The directive comes in the wake of a November 1, 2025 crash in Sagamu, Ogun State, where Abiodun collided with two motorcycles, leaving a rider and a female passenger seriously injured. The Ogun State Government disclosed the development through an official statement on its verified X handle on Monday.

According to eyewitness accounts, DJ Chicken attempted to flee the scene immediately after the accident, prompting bystanders to intervene and restrain him. The incident drew widespread condemnation online, with many criticizing the TikTok star’s reckless behavior.

Addressing the matter, the Ministry of Justice highlighted that some road users pose a significant danger to society and should be held accountable under criminal law.

“While it may be reasonable to allow crash victims get compensation from persons who have driven recklessly and to resolve road traffic collisions as a civil wrong, some road users are special dangers to society and should be held to account under criminal law. Mr Abiodun is one such person,” the statement read.

The ministry emphasized that at least two of Abiodun’s recent crashes had been captured on video, describing the incidents as “self-evident.” It added that DJ Chicken’s careless return to driving, just three weeks after previous accidents, made it necessary for the state to intervene.

“Mr Abiodun’s heedless return to the wheel with no greater care just three weeks after makes it imperative that the state must intervene to protect the public – especially as there is an organic outcry against his continued driving,” the statement said.

In addition to the Sagamu crash, DJ Chicken was reportedly involved in another traffic incident on November 23, 2025, in Lekki, Lagos State, narrowly avoiding pedestrians. The Ministry of Justice described the incident as dangerous and a near-miss.

“This lone car incident almost harmed pedestrians, but for good fortune and the pedestrians’ quick reflexes,” the statement noted.

In response to these repeated incidents, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, has taken decisive measures to ensure accountability and public safety.

“Accordingly, the Attorney-General and Honourable Commissioner for Justice – Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN – has directed relevant officers to expedite action on the pending crash case from Sagamu for prompt arraignment,” the ministry said.

The ministry further stressed its commitment to collaboration with law enforcement to safeguard road users and hold offenders accountable.

“The Office of the Attorney-General is working closely with the police to achieve this outcome,” it added.

Road safety advocates and concerned citizens have applauded the ministry’s intervention, arguing that repeated reckless driving incidents should not be treated lightly. Many Nigerians have called for stricter penalties for celebrities and influencers whose behavior endangers the public.

Observers note that while compensation for accident victims can address civil concerns, criminal accountability is necessary to deter repeat offenses. The ministry’s current actions reflect a broader push by the Ogun State Government to ensure that all road users, regardless of social status, are held responsible for endangering lives.

DJ Chicken’s repeated crashes, which have been widely shared on social media, have sparked discussions on the role of influencers in promoting responsible behavior. Many fear that without swift intervention, such incidents could set a dangerous precedent for impressionable fans who look up to online personalities.

As the case moves forward, authorities have assured the public that the wheels of justice will not be delayed, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the safety of pedestrians and other road users. The expedited arraignment of DJ Chicken is expected to serve as a warning to others who might think they are above the law.

With the Ogun State Ministry of Justice taking a firm stance, the ongoing investigation and forthcoming legal proceedings will likely become a landmark case in Nigeria, highlighting the consequences of reckless driving and reinforcing the principle that no one is exempt from accountability.
