A disturbing video has emerged online showing the heartbreaking moment a newly married couple, reportedly abducted from their home in Auchi, Edo State, cried out for help while in captivity. The viral clip, which has sparked nationwide outrage, captures the terrified husband pleading for their lives as he reveals the kidnappers’ shocking demands.
In the video, the distraught man begs Nigerians and the authorities to intervene, saying,
“Abeeg make una help us, abeeg make una help us. My wife is pregnant, they want to sl££p with her. Please help us. We only have ₦7 million in our account, and they are demanding ₦50 million…” His words, trembling with fear, highlight the cruelty of the attackers and the danger facing the pregnant woman.
According to local reports, the couple was forcefully taken from their residence in the late hours, and the kidnappers immediately contacted relatives with a ransom demand of ₦50 million, a sum far beyond the couple’s financial capability. Their emotional plea has since dominated social media platforms, prompting strong reactions from Nigerians who are calling on security agencies to take swift action.
Security analysts and community members in Edo State have described the incident as another alarming example of the rising wave of kidnapping in Nigeria. With the country battling insecurity in several regions, many citizens are urging the government to intensify efforts toward intelligence gathering, community policing, and dismantling criminal gangs that continue to terrorize innocent residents.
The viral video has also triggered conversations about the vulnerability of women—especially pregnant women—during kidnapping incidents. Human rights advocates are demanding immediate intervention, stressing that the woman’s safety must be treated as a national emergency.
As the search for the abducted couple intensifies, Nigerians hope that authorities will act quickly to rescue them unharmed and bring their abductors to justice.
