Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has stirred massive reactions online after unveiling a new idea for fans attending his concerts.
The singer introduced a free coffee stand at his shows, a move that has triggered mixed conversations across social media platforms.
Burna Boy shared a screenshot of the coffee stand via his Instagram story. According to him, the innovation is aimed at helping fans stay awake and energetic while he performs.
The award-winning star revealed that the stand will serve coffee at no cost, making it available to any concert attendee who needs a quick boost.
He wrote that fans would now enjoy free coffee at all his concerts going forward.
The introduction of the coffee stand comes shortly after the singer trended for telling a fan to leave his show for sleeping.
The moment generated heavy backlash, with many accusing him of being insensitive. But Burna Boy later clarified the misunderstanding, saying he was only joking with his band and that the clip was misinterpreted as him attacking fans.
Explaining further in an Instagram post, Burna Boy stated that he had never hated his fans. He revealed that he was dealing with personal battles of his own and had never asked anyone for pity. According to him, he always reciprocates any love and respect shown to him.
He apologised to fans who felt offended and added that the positive things he does rarely go viral, but any moment people feel he “messed up,” the internet explodes.
Reacting to the free coffee stand, social media users had mixed opinions. While some praised him for thinking creatively, others mocked the idea and questioned its effectiveness.
One user, dorise974, wrote, “Even for a tired person, coffee can’t stop you from sleeping.”
Another, Dominicwung, praised him, saying, “Business state of mind. Way to go, Burna.”
Laide_ajanaku commented, “Introduce empathy and humanity.”
A user, omodiva, jokingly wrote, “Burna werey.”
More reactions continued to pour in.
Decentoscar wrote, “Odogwu is wise, can’t you see.”
Vanchizzy added, “At this point, everybody get their own for body.”
Another fan, 234woman, urged him to apologise again. “Shey una see this man na real boy? Burna apologise, e no too hard na.”
Some were unimpressed.
eye.jay dismissed the idea, writing, “Trash, who says coffee keeps people up?”
theresilientsinglemum criticised him, saying, “They should cancel him, he thinks he is dealing with Nigeria.”
Burna Boy has remained in the spotlight over his outspoken personality and frequent controversial statements.
In July, he made headlines after slamming his colleagues and boasting about being better at rap. He has also shared several reflections about his personal growth, stating that the new him misses the old him and that the former version of himself would not understand the change.
Last year, the singer surprised many when he acknowledged the veterans who paved the way for him, including 2Baba, Timaya, D’banj, Larry Gaga, and Wande Coal, noting their impact on his journey.
With the new free coffee stand, Burna Boy has once again positioned himself at the centre of online discussions, with fans waiting to see how the idea works at his next major concert.
