Ned Nwoko, the senator representing Delta North, has taken to his official X (formerly Twitter) page to announce that he has been crowned Best Performing Senator of the Year at the Democracy Heroes Award Africa 2025.
In his post, Nwoko shared photos and clips from the award ceremony, which he attended alongside his Moroccan wife, Laila Charani. Accompanying the visuals, he wrote:
“This recognition is not just mine; it belongs to Anioma, to Delta North, and to every Nigerian who believes in purposeful leadership.”
“Dedicated to a visionary before his time, Sir Dennis Osadebay. His dream for Anioma State lives on through our collective pursuit of justice and representation.”
The timing of his celebratory post comes amid a growing social-media storm surrounding his wife, Regina Daniels. A distressing video circulating online shows Daniels in tears, surrounded by several people desperately trying to calm her, as she claims she can no longer endure what is happening at home.
In the footage, the actress says:
“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my house, I am a queen. Not again, I cannot stand the violence, it is too much.”
Meanwhile, Daniels’ brother, Sammy West, weighed in via Instagram, making serious allegations against the senator:
“Makachi! E pain me say una wan finally laugh my sister. Let me repeat, anywhere wey man dey beat woman, whether na my sister or not, I go fight with my bleed!
“Senator Ned Nwoko, you get luck say after you beat my sister again, smash her head for wall, you run comot send thugs! I swear I for burst all your jaw!”
As of now, neither Ned Nwoko nor Regina Daniels have issued official statements responding to the allegations. Meanwhile, social-media reactions have been swift and divided:
Some users interpreted Nwoko’s award post as a strategic distraction from the controversy.
Others called for a full investigation and urged for clarity on the wellbeing of the actress.
A number of fans expressed concern for Daniels, saying the video had “shocked” them and demanded accountability.
The juxtaposition of Nwoko’s public recognition and the viral marriage drama has thrust both the senator and the actress into a new wave of public scrutiny — raising questions among observers about the timing, optics and substance behind both posts and posts.
