Nigerian rapper Erigga has opened up about why he can never leave the music industry, describing it as the core of his life and passion.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Hip TV on October 10, 2025, the rapper reflected on the challenges many artists face, noting that each year, several of his colleagues exit the music scene due to personal or professional circumstances.

“Every year, people leave music for real-life issues. But I can’t stop. Music is life. It’s what keeps me going,” Erigga said. He emphasised that for him, music transcends financial gains or social recognition, insisting that his commitment is rooted in passion rather than commercial rewards.

“Take the business and everything out of it, it’s more of a passion. I can’t disappoint my fans,” he added.

Erigga also reflected on the emotional connection he has with his fans, explaining that their support motivates him to continue creating.

According to him, the relationship between an artist and the audience is built on consistency and authenticity, and he believes stepping away from music would betray that bond.

The rapper acknowledged the difficulties in the industry, including economic pressures and societal expectations, which often compel talented artists to abandon their careers.

Despite these challenges, Erigga insists that the essence of music in his life is unshakeable. “Music is more than just a job for me. It’s a lifestyle, a way to express myself, and a means to inspire people,” he said.

Erigga’s comments come amid a period of introspection for many Nigerian artists, as the industry experiences shifts in production, streaming, and audience engagement. While some peers have chosen to leave, Erigga’s determination highlights the resilience and dedication required to sustain a long-term career in music.

Beyond music, Erigga has also been vocal about societal issues, sharing insights on topics ranging from economic hardship to personal relationships in interviews.

He believes that his role as an artist extends beyond entertainment, serving as a voice for his community and a source of motivation for aspiring musicians.

Erigga’s unwavering commitment underscores his belief that music is not just a career, but an essential part of his identity.

His passion, connection with fans, and dedication to his craft ensure that he remains a significant figure in the Nigerian music landscape.

As he continues to create and inspire, it is clear that leaving music is not an option for the rapper who sees his art as life itself. Ultimately, Erigga’s story highlights how true passion can drive an artist to persevere despite challenges, proving that for him, music is more than entertainment it’s a way of life.
