Popular Nigerian skitmaker Shank Comics has publicly accused Abana Cars, a Lagos-based car dealer, of selling him a defective Mercedes AMG Coupé valued at ₦123 million. The controversy began when Shank revealed that despite returning the luxury vehicle over two months ago, he has yet to receive a refund from the dealership.

In a video shared on social media, Shank Comics detailed how he purchased the car in July 2025 as a personal gift. However, upon delivery in Lagos, he immediately noticed significant mechanical issues. Initially, Abana Cars claimed the problem was minor, citing a fan malfunction, and took the vehicle for repairs. A week later, Shank discovered a more serious brainbox (ECU) fault, escalating his concerns about the car's condition.

Although both parties eventually agreed to a full refund of ₦123 million, Shank revealed that he has not received any payment nearly three months later. Expressing his frustration online, the skitmaker wrote:

"I didn’t drive the car once! When it got to Lagos, I noticed the issue. I complained, Abana said it was a small fan problem. I said okay, fix it. Bring it back. One week later, we found out the car had a brainbox issue. We agreed on a refund of 123M. It’s been almost three months. You’re telling me nonsense! You keep tagging someone else to answer me. I need my money now. I’m coming to ABJ @abanacars."

Shank’s post has since gone viral, sparking massive reactions on Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms. Many fans urged the skitmaker to take legal action against the dealership, while others shared similar experiences with unreliable or fraudulent car dealers in Lagos.

The incident has raised broader concerns about the luxury car market in Nigeria, highlighting risks buyers face when purchasing high-end vehicles from local dealerships. Experts suggest that potential buyers exercise caution, conduct thorough inspections, and request warranties before completing multimillion-naira car purchases.

As the dispute continues, social media users are closely watching for updates on whether Abana Cars will honor the refund agreement. The case underscores the importance of transparency, accountability, and prompt customer service in Nigeria’s automobile industry, especially when dealing with high-value cars like Mercedes AMG Coupés.
