Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has expressed profound gratitude to God as the construction of the church’s massive 100,000-capacity Ark auditorium nears completion.
In a video making the rounds on social media, the revered cleric could be seen singing praises and rejoicing as he inspected the ongoing work at the site.
The Ark, located in Ota, Ogun State, is one of the largest church projects in Africa and is expected to rank among the biggest worship centers in the world once completed.
The multi-billion-naira project, described by Oyedepo as a symbol of divine grace, is designed to host tens of thousands of worshippers while featuring state-of-the-art facilities to support global evangelism.
The cleric, known for his strong emphasis on faith, vision, and prosperity, has often stated that the project represents a testament to God’s limitless power and provision.
However, the development has generated a flurry of mixed reactions among Nigerians. While many faithful members of the Living Faith Church have celebrated the nearing completion of the project, others have questioned the necessity of such a large religious structure amid Nigeria’s prevailing economic challenges.
Some social media users praised Oyedepo and his church members for their dedication and commitment, describing the project as a symbol of excellence and organization.
One user wrote, “Bishop Oyedepo has shown again that with vision, discipline, and faith, great things are possible in Nigeria.” Another admirer commented, “This is not just a church; it’s a monument that will attract people from all over the world.”
On the other hand, critics have accused the church of misplacing priorities. Many argued that the enormous resources used to build the Ark could have been channeled into industries, schools, and hospitals to support national development.
“They have the capacity to build massive auditoriums but not industries,” one user remarked. “When it comes to productivity and accountability, everything suddenly disappears.”
Another critic added, “Building another big church is not what Nigeria needs now. We need leaders to invest in things that improve lives and the economy, not just religious monuments.”
Despite the controversy, supporters of Oyedepo insist that the project has provided employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians during its construction phase and will continue to contribute positively to the economy through tourism and infrastructure growth once it opens.
The Ark auditorium is also seen as an architectural masterpiece that reflects the ambitious vision of the Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel.
When completed, it is expected to replace the current Faith Tabernacle as the church’s global headquarters, offering modern amenities, advanced sound systems, and ample parking space to accommodate large gatherings.
As the project nears its final stage, Bishop Oyedepo’s message remains consistent that the Ark is not just a building, but a spiritual landmark symbolizing faith, excellence, and the fulfillment of divine purpose.
