It is a heartbreaking time for Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta, as he announced the passing of his son. The Yoruba movie star shared the devastating news with his fans and followers on Instagram on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Posting a solemn photo of his late child, the actor expressed his deep grief while submitting to the will of God.

In his words, he wrote: “Inna Lillahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun. Ya Allah, you are the knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”

The news has since thrown the entertainment industry into mourning, with friends, colleagues, and fans pouring in their condolences. Actor Jamiu Azeez, reacting with shock, commented: “Haaa God, pls have mercy on us.

This is too much.” Joseph Momodu also sympathized, writing: “God of nervy.” Actress Ashabi expressed her grief with crying emojis, while several fans took to the comment section to console the bereaved actor.

One user, @oluwakemisobande, wrote: “So sorry, sir, may his gentle soul rest in peace.” Another, @remifunkky_apekeola, prayed: “May Almighty Allah grant him Aljanah.”

This sad event comes less than a week after Nollywood veteran actress Peju Ogunmola and her husband, Omobolanle Sunday, lost their only child, Ayomikun, after a brief illness in Ibadan. Ayomikun was laid to rest immediately in line with Islamic rites.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Nollywood has been hit with such tragic news. Last year, actor Francis Duru lost his son, whom he described as a fighter.

He likened his late child to a lion who gave his all until his final moments, noting that if this was God’s will, then so be it. Similarly, comedian Aphrican Ace and his wife mourned the passing of their newborn baby, who lived for less than a day.

The couple shared how they went from preparing to welcome their child home to suddenly making funeral arrangements.

In 2023, skit maker Olagunju Solomon Olamide, better known as Akika, also announced the death of his son on Father’s Day. He revealed that he had been searching for the perfect father-son photo to post before the tragic incident occurred.

For Ibrahim Chatta, the loss of his son is particularly painful given his well-known devotion to family. His post highlights his faith in Allah’s wisdom despite the grief. Fans and colleagues continue to rally around him with prayers and words of comfort.

As condolences pour in, the actor’s loss is another reminder of the fragility of life and the deep bond between parents and their children. The Nigerian entertainment industry mourns with him, hoping he finds strength and healing in this difficult period.
