Veteran actor and seasoned administrator, Alhaji Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, has officially declared his ambition to lead the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) as its next president.
In his declaration, Yakubu outlined a comprehensive agenda aimed at repositioning the guild for greater relevance and impact. His plans include unionising the guild, empowering members through capacity-building opportunities, creating enduring institutional structures, and fostering unity among actors across the country.
“The time has come for the AGN to stand as a stronger, more inclusive, and people-oriented body that not only protects the interests of its members but also maximises the vast opportunities within Nollywood to empower actors and project Nigerian culture globally,” Yakubu stated.
He further stressed his dedication to transparency, accountability, and collaboration, noting that effective partnerships with both government and private sector stakeholders would be vital in unlocking new opportunities for guild members.
Yakubu’s announcement has already begun generating discussions within Nollywood circles, with several practitioners expressing confidence that his vision could inject fresh energy and direction into the guild.
