Popular Nigerian actor and politician, Yul Edochie, has issued a heartfelt message to Ndi Igbo in diaspora, urging them to return to Igbo land and contribute to its development. In a compelling Facebook post, Yul appealed to Igbos facing rejection abroad, emphasizing that such experiences are not signs to fight back but rather spiritual cues to return home.
According to Edochie, the Igbo people have "wandered for too long," and the time has come for them to reconnect with their roots. He stressed that ancestral spirits and the soul of Ala Igbo (Igbo land) are calling out to their people scattered across the globe, asking them to bring back their wealth, experience, and knowledge to rebuild the region.
“Ndi Igbo, come back home and invest in Igbo land.
If you’re facing rejection on foreign soil, it’s not a sign to fight anybody, it’s a sign to return home,” he wrote.
“We have wandered for too long. Home is calling. Our ancestors and spirits in Igbo land are calling us to return and develop home.
A new dawn has come in Igbo land. It’s time to return home.
Ana amalu mma si na uno wee puo ilo.”
The phrase “Ana amalu mma si na uno wee puo ilo” loosely translates to “beauty that is appreciated abroad must first shine at home,” highlighting the need to prioritize and uplift Igbo communities.
Edochie’s message resonates deeply at a time when many Igbo entrepreneurs and professionals are making waves globally, yet economic development in South-Eastern Nigeria remains slow due to limited investment. He emphasized that true legacy and wealth begin with building up one's homeland.
With rising conversations around diaspora reintegration, regional development, and cultural preservation, Yul Edochie’s call is both timely and spiritual. His passionate plea is a reminder that while opportunities exist abroad, lasting impact begins at home—especially for Ndigbo seeking purpose and community.
