Two of Nollywood’s most celebrated actresses, Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele, have rekindled their once-strained relationship, signaling the end of a long-standing rivalry that has kept fans and industry watchers divided for years.

The heartwarming development came to light over the weekend as both stars showed public affection toward each other on Instagram a platform that had once silently echoed their professional distance. Toyin Abraham, known for her outspoken and vibrant personality, dropped a surprising but affectionate comment under a video shared by Funke Akindele.

“Aunty Funke, you hot oooo,” Toyin wrote, drawing massive attention from fans and industry insiders alike.

Responding to the unexpected yet warm gesture, Funke replied in a playful tone, “Toyin lol, onijogbon, Thanks dear,” calling Toyin a “troublemaker” in Yoruba with a hint of fondness.

This simple yet powerful exchange marked a public thawing of what had been perceived as a cold war between the two actresses. The rivalry, often fueled by fan comparisons, award competition, and clashing movie release dates, had sparked conversations about division among female stars in Nollywood.

In 2024, Toyin had made a public plea via Instagram, calling for peace among herself, Funke Akindele, and Mercy Aigbe, another actress often dragged into the trio’s perceived feud. “We are all doing great. We can all shine together,” Toyin had said then. It now seems that her call is being answered.

The duo, who had unfollowed each other during their feud, have now reconnected on Instagram a digital signal of mended fences. Fans were quick to celebrate the reunion, with many praising both women for putting differences aside.

“Women supporting women is powerful! This is what we need in Nollywood,” one fan commented under the viral post. Others suggested the move could signal a future collaboration between the two Nollywood powerhouses.

Both actresses have individually carved impressive careers in the Nigerian film industry. Funke Akindele, famed for her roles in Jenifa and A Tribe Called Judah, recently shattered cinema records with her blockbuster films. Toyin Abraham, on her part, has built a solid fan base with hits like The Ghost and the Tout, Ijakumo, and Malaika.

As Nollywood continues to grow in global relevance, such acts of reconciliation serve as positive examples for industry unity and mutual respect.

While neither actress has commented further on whether the renewed friendship would extend into work collaborations, fans are already hopeful.

“Seeing Toyin and Funke together again gives me joy,” another fan wrote. “Maybe we’ll see them co-produce a film next!”

For now, the rekindled friendship is enough for many, as it closes a chapter of rivalry and opens a new page of sisterhood between two of Nollywood’s finest.
