It appears there’s trouble in paradise between Nigerian music superstar Davido and his longtime aide, Israel DMW, as the singer has unfollowed him on Instagram. A quick check by Kemi Filani News confirmed that Davido is no longer following Israel DMW, although Israel still follows the "Unavailable" crooner on the platform.
This recent development has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with fans weighing in on the fallout between the once-close duo.
One Instagram user, @iren_stitches_247, expressed confusion, writing, “Is Davido God, I don’t understand?” Another fan, @luxuryhairsbyck, commented, “He go miss Sheila for giving him good advice.” @obianuguzojiofor simply stated, “Chai, I pity him.” Meanwhile, @sandy_uwaoma remarked, “Davido and unfollowing Israel na 5&6.” Adding to the conversation, @lizzy_millions wrote, “He will follow him back when they settle.”
Tensions between the two reportedly escalated weeks ago when it was alleged that Davido’s management and family barred Israel DMW from joining the singer on his Timeless Tour (Five Tour). According to sources, this decision was based on Israel’s unruly and embarrassing behavior, which was said to have caused distractions during important events.
One major incident that may have contributed to the rift was Israel DMW’s public clash with Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7. While Phyna was vacationing in Mauritius, she reportedly spent time with Israel’s estranged wife, Sheila Courage, which didn’t sit well with him. In a leaked WhatsApp exchange, Israel furiously accused Phyna of betrayal, saying she had no right to associate with Sheila after everything he had done for her.
In the chat, Israel lamented spending over N30 million on his wedding, which eventually ended in separation. He also issued a warning to other celebrities, including Mercy Aigbe and Liquorose, urging them to steer clear of Sheila.
While neither Davido nor Israel DMW has made an official statement regarding the fallout, fans are hopeful the pair will reconcile soon. Over the years, Israel has been known as one of Davido’s most loyal associates, famously referring to the artist as "001" and accompanying him across global tours and high-profile events.
