Controversial singer, Naira Marley, has reportedly filed a petition against Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, over claims linked to the lingering controversy surrounding the death of late singer, Mohbad.
According to reports shared by popular Instagram blogger Cutie Juls, the petition prompted a police summons, with Iyabo Ojo allegedly invited to the Force Headquarters in Abuja. While details of the petition remain sketchy, it is believed to centre on allegations of defamation and the circulation of misleading claims about the singer.
Cutie Juls alleged that Naira Marley’s legal team is accusing Iyabo Ojo of making statements and sharing content that misrepresented the singer’s public image. One of the central issues raised is the creation of fake social media accounts used to circulate claims that Iyabo Ojo had apologized to Naira Marley a move allegedly orchestrated by the singer’s associates but now linked back to the actress by his legal team.
The development has stirred reactions online, especially as Iyabo Ojo was one of the most outspoken public figures demanding justice for Mohbad in 2023, following his mysterious death. The actress had been vocal in her criticism of Naira Marley and his associates, frequently calling for investigations into their alleged involvement.
This petition also comes shortly after Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, reportedly filed a separate lawsuit against Naira Marley, accusing the singer of reneging on an undisclosed promise.
As of press time, Iyabo Ojo has not made any public statement in response to the alleged police invitation or the petition itself. Similarly, Naira Marley and his team are yet to officially confirm the development.
The incident marks yet another chapter in the prolonged legal and social fallout trailing Mohbad’s death.
