Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has opened up about the emotional complexities of long-term marriage, admitting that love, no matter how deep, isn’t always constant.

In a heartfelt conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Omotola—who has been married to Captain Matthew Ekeinde for nearly three decades—spoke candidly about moments of doubt and how her faith helps her stay committed.

“There are times when I look at him and I’m not in love. I go to God and report him,” she revealed. “I honour him not because I’m head over heels in love at that moment, but because I honour the One who gave me the mandate to be with him.”

The actress noted that both she and her husband experience these difficult days. “There are times I look at him and think, ‘Somebody please remind me why I married this man.’ And he probably feels the same way about me. Those days come,” she said.

Encouraging couples to embrace authenticity, Omotola warned against putting up a façade. “I think the problem is people trying to be fake. Relax, it’s not that serious. Remember you’re a human being,” she advised.

She also acknowledged that temptation is real, but boundaries must be respected. “There are times I see guys who look ‘fantabulous’ and I say, ‘Oh child!’ But you check yourself,” she added.

Through her openness, Omotola offered a refreshing take on marriage, highlighting the need for honesty, emotional strength, and spiritual grounding in maintaining a lasting relationship.
