Veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ego Boyo has addressed long-standing rumours that her husband was the reason she stepped away from acting.
In a recent chat with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the 56-year-old star dismissed the claims, saying her decision to stop acting was entirely personal and not influenced by anyone.
“I left acting when I found out that I enjoyed producing more than acting. It was boring.
The blogs wanted it to be something like my husband banned me from it, they wanted it to be sensational and it was not,”
she said.
Boyo explained that her passion naturally shifted toward the creative process behind the camera, and she chose to pursue producing because it felt more fulfilling.
The award-winning actress gained national recognition in the early 1990s with her role in the iconic TV series Checkmate, after beginning her career in the 1980s. Since then, she has remained active in the industry through her work as a producer and advocate for quality storytelling in Nollywood.
