Dr. Paul Enenche, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has revealed why he turned down a N30 million donation from Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State.
The pastor, known for his strict stance on the independence of his ministry, shared the revelation during a Sunday sermon at the church headquarters in Abuja.
Enenche explained that the rejection was not a slight against the governor but a continuation of a longstanding policy he has maintained for over 20 years one that keeps the church free from political or government financial influence.
According to him, his ministry does not accept monetary gifts from political figures or administrations to preserve its integrity and spiritual focus.
“For some people, that may be a surprise because they don’t know who we are. But those who know us, that’s no surprise at all. That’s how we’ve lived, and that’s what we’ve stood for,” he stated.
The pastor cited similar decisions from the past, recalling how he rejected honorariums after national assignments, including a 2014 pilgrimage to Jerusalem with then-President Goodluck Jonathan and other officials. Enenche said he paid for his own trip and refused any form of compensation.
The donation from Governor Idris had reportedly come during a recent crusade held in Kebbi State. Enenche's refusal reinforces his image as a preacher who values spiritual conviction over political alignment or monetary enticement.
His declaration has sparked conversations among both religious and political observers, many of whom praise his consistency and transparency in a society where financial influence often compromises values.
As questions around church-state relations continue to emerge in Nigeria, Enenche’s decision stands as a bold reminder of the importance of principle in public and spiritual leadership. “We choose what we stand for, and that stand must not be for sale,” he said firmly.
